Tonight was back and forth and BU finally extended the lead in the second half when Coach Les played a BIGGER lineup. For quite a while in the second half BU played with Sam M., Dodie, Roberts, Wilson and Collins. I have been waiting for this lineup for a while. That line-up extended the lead and was the difference in the game. IMO

I noticed, this line up played extremely well together. Personally I would make this our "starting" line-up, but I am not the coach.

Keep in mind we were playing a 3-12 team in the Valley

Also, keep in mind that before that line-up went in and worked together for several minutes we were playing a 3-12 team only even...

TB also gave some life to the O' tonight! I think he can be special! :D

This is the 2nd game in a row where I thought TB played an excellent 1st half and then got a DNP for the 2nd half. This really doesnt make sense at all to me. I understand not having him in the final 5 mins of the game because he is a terrible free throw shooter but I dont see why he can't play 5-8 mins in the 2nd half

First off, I'd like to thank JL for my excellent tickets tonight! Always nice to have a nice view!

We struggled tonight against the bottom of the valley. However we did win and that in the end is what is important. As I see it, there is not much we can do to really improve our position in the valley.....IMO JL has tried some different things in the last couple of games. I really like the energy that CR brings to the table....only wish he was only a freshman! DC played well, not dominate but well. TW and Sammy were tough tonight. The biggest plus from the last 2 games was that both teams made runs but we never panicked and built a lead back up.

GO BU!!!!

I can't think of anything that I would have changed about Les' rotation of players tonight. He also left TB in after his second (and probably ill-advised) 3pt attempt. When I aw Theron coming in, I felt sure TB was getting yanked. I think part of why TB got so many minutes in the first half was because Bradley had a nice big lead. MSU made a big run in the second half and it was close from there to the finish, so I don't think Les was in tinkering mode...

Hey, it's a win and we can dream about an ISU loss tomorrow night to keep our hopes for third place alive. If not, 4th is not so bad considering we have been shorthanded this year and were picked 5th even before the injuries. The important thing is we have momentum going into St. Louis, and this schedule is what the doctor ordered.

The lead could have also been extended because that is the most experienced college basketball lineup that the team can put on the floor at once. l don't think you can say that the lead was definitely extended because the lineup was "bigger." I think experience is a more important factor.

What has that got to do with how guys are playing together?
You mean they would not play well together against an 11-4 team?:?:
Ludicrous!

Ok..I'll take it back. You have CR or DD instead of EM...it's really not a huge change IMO.
It was one part of a game. They did well tonite together doesn't mean they always will. For the most part everyone has said EM is a natural PG for us....

I didn't think that shot was ill advised at all. He looked pretty wide open to me I just think he got caught up in the moment after hitting 2 back to back shots and getting the crowd back into it. I wasnt surprised he didnt get yanked there. He is a freshman and needs to be able to play through stuff like that down the road

No doubt about it, I wish we could see more of him.

Isn't TB playing behind TW? More time for TB means less time for TW - right? So I think he'll get his time. But then next season he might share some minutes with CR. I don't know. At any rate... I am very happy with what TB has contributed so far and look forward to watching his career.

Well it's ill-advised if he's not a good long range shooter. He hasn't shown himself to be one in gametime yet and I don't get to watch practice. Sam Singh's open out there all-day long but it'd always be ill-advised for him to take that shot, open or not.

I totally agree with you on the second part though. I was elated when he was left in to play through that shot. Also, that created a big lineup for Bradley unlike any I've seen in forever and a half. We had DC (or was it SS?), TB, and TW playing at the 3. I didn't think that lineup played that well out there, but we had two guys down low on offensive sets and it made me very excited to see Les tinkering with it.

Back on topic-- I always think Les' hook is much too fast as far as the bigs are concerned. He has this tendency to take a big out for a stupid mistake (or even an unstupid mistake) right away, never to return, and I think it's something he needs to work on as a coach.

First of all... I hate watching coaches sub based on "error = substitute" EVERY time. I think Coach Les doesn't do it EVERY time.

With that said... I know Coach Les makes the "final" decisions (and therefore he has told his Asst Coaches to make certain decisions for him and puts his trust in them)... but so I think Buescher is in charge making a lot of the decisions on substitutions. I remember seeing a sub run down to get in at the end of the 1st 1/2... I think EB sent him (I think CR was gonna go in for Darian)... and with the time left in the 1/2, Les pulled him back right away (knowing it wasn't needed based on the time left - Mo St had the final possession of the 1/2 and not gonna leave enough time for the sub to make a "difference").

I feel that les has a short hook for certain players, which has already been established that he plays based on effort in practice. For some people based on their effort he has that short leash.

I don't know if TB has that leash, but look at Cole-Scott last year...one big mistake...and he's out for basically the season.
I feel that TB has a medium leash. Much shorter than that of TW! obviously

my guess is JL goes, TW made a mistake, take him out and put in TB? no let's stick w/ the senior over the freshmen

That could be how he makes his determination. I've felt it's a guards vs. bigs kind of thing. I thought TCS made lots and lots of mistakes before getting benched. DC on the other hand used to get yanked often. This season, I've felt like Les' hook has gotten a lot less aggressive with the bigs. Hehe, who knows, could all be in my head. ;)

I agree 100%. That shot was not ill-advised. He had just made two straight shots (including a 3), was wide open, and had a rebounder there. It was a good shot, and possibly puts MSU away if it goes in.
