BU in Indiana?

Have you been to some of these cowtowns with one major attraction--the huge state university? I have been to many but I think Stillwater, OK takes the cake.

I guarantee that outside the major cities (were they care very little about college sports) Peoria has as much going on as anywere.

We shouldn't be too hard on Linda as I don't think we should expect much insight from Linda with regard to college sports passion. After all, Cohn received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from SUNY at Oswego. Fine school and everything, but she didn't get to experience first hand how a community and student body can get passionate about its college sports team.

I don't think a BU alum made the statement. Bases on the sportline article, I think it was an MSU alum living in Peoria who sent an email to Izzo.

"I read one article an alum sent me that said this is the biggest thing that has happened there in 10 years," Izzo said. "I'm not sure whether we're that big or they haven't had a lot of things that have happened there. But they don't get a Michigan State to come in there all the time. There's no question about that."

Thanks for clearing that up DB. I misunderstood what was actually said. I retract my statement about the BU Alum, but I'm still heated about the way they portrayed the game and the great city of Peoria, ILLINOIS!

Pot, meet kettle. Just saying...

Hey, every town is what it is and that is fine by me.

I am just saying that a sports network where the majority of its live programming is done from some of these places has no business making cracks about what "goes on" on Peoria.

**************** ESPN. That was absolute bull **************** coverage of our game and they sit there and ****************ing mock us. They will probably do the same ****************ing thing in March when we are in the tournament. ************ holes.

Way to stay classy. Some of you people are really going nuts over this. Honestly, if it was any other town, you probably would've laughed at it.

Now, since most of us weren't watching the game on TV, can anyone pass along what the announcers AT THE GAME had to say about Peoria or the crowd. Maybe that will please a few of you. Quit your crying.

C'mon now.... tell us how you REALLY feel.

;) LOL!!!

Not crying....only stating the obvious. At least they could of gave us the courtesy of a reach-around and maybe mention the Bradley Soccer team. Yes, I know about the announcers and they were just fine. Hey ESPN, cover sports and not socio-economics of cities in the U.S. For god sakes Scouter its 2007, at least they could of found us on a map....just give me that.

So they poked a little fun at Peoria. Get over it. I'm sure it wasn't the first time they've done that to a city and it certainly won't be the last. But there's no defense for using Indiana instead of Illinois. That was just embarrassing.

Anyway, from a NATIONAL STANDPOINT Michigan St. was the story last night. NOT Bradley. I'm sorry you guys have trouble understanding things like that.

Hey Scouter...were you born in Peoria?

No, but I've been going to school here for four years and I'm quite fond of Peoria. That doesn't mean I can't take a little joke about it, which you seem to have a problem with.

I was actually born and raised near St. Louis. You can make fun of it if it helps make you feel better.

Never would....I have no purpose too. And there is nothing remotely wrong with your argument about us (Townies) getting little fired up about this. You are right, it is and was about Michigan State last night. Also, ESPN makes cracks about cities all the time....big and small cities. And maybe nobody but us Bradley Alum and Bradley Basketball fans are reading this subject on our message board right now. I am pretty sure that ESPN is not going to run a story tonight stating that "due to Scouter and abraveforlife on bradleyfans.com, we issue a full apology to Peoria." Not going to happen. I just want anybody who wants to know. I was born and raised in Peoria, I love Peoria, maybe I should of left Peoria to go to school, but sometimes certain things come up and you can't and you have to settle for Bradley, which I think was the best education I could ever receive. All I am doing is playing my defense for Peoria and Im not whinning. And the last thing I want to do is get into it with fellow Bradley fans over this. We have a long way to go....

DONE!
St. Louis is the SECOND most worthless town in the U.S. (1st is of course INdinanapolis)
everything they do is a mock up of what some other city has done. Busch = Miller in Milwaukee, Rams getting Ditka as a coach = obviously the greatest town in the world...CHICAGO!!! and that ridiculous Arch!!!!
the gateway to the west???
if i'm going west I will do everything I can to AVOID that stupid arch and everything it stands for.
go through East St. Louis on your way west you won't make it out of Missouri!

there...now everyone's happy

and i'd like to see you try to make fun of Chicago...go ahead...I dare ya.
it's impossible
our pizza's better
our football team is better
our buildings are better
our parades are better
EVERYTHING is better in Chicago:D:D:D

This is post of the year material, absolutely the best....:D:D:D

It amazes me the Illinois people that are Cardinal fans. Why would somebody from Illinois cheer for a team from Missouri? Same goes for Green Bay fans.....

My comment was actually tongue in cheek, but whatever. I really have nothing bad to say about Chicago -- except that people like you never shut up about how amazing it is.

And when did the Rams get Ditka as their coach?

p.s. I hope you enjoy your stay in the "second most worthless town in the U.S." during the MVC tournament.

My bad, Ditka coached the New Orleans Saints...ANOTHER worthless town (probably 5th from the bottom in my opinion).

and I will enjoy my stay in the second worse town, because I know that I can wash the icky off of me and go back to the good ol' CHi-town!!!

and as for your "holyer than though" attitude you think us Chicagoans have...yea we got it...and we're proud of it.

'merica...F*** yea!!!

Wow, dude. Easy on the espressos.

Actual game coverage was good.

Actual game coverage was good.

Ok, regardless of what sportscenter said about the Ptown, how many of you actually watched the ESPNU coverage. The announcers were not only complimentary toward Bradley and its basketball history, but also mentioned the mvc's recent success multiple times. They even quoted a lot of statistics regarding the mvc's record against BCS schools in recent years, and mentioned how that record is even more impressive when you consider that the BCS schools will rarely come to our place.

They also repeatedly mentioned the impressive fan turnout, talked about the class act that Les is, and had a Jim Les special at half time. I was very happy with the ESPNU coverage, the announcers had done their homework, they had even been at the luncheon with Les and Izzo earlier that day and talked about how enjoyable it was.

My point is, Sports Center may have F#$@%d up, but the actual game coverage was very good, and did not belittle Peoria in any way.
