BU Jerseys

Can we ever get BU to sell QUALITY basketball jerseys to the public? That leads me to another idea - why not auction off the player jerseys after a game for charity or might there be some NCAA rule around this? Another idea might be to have BU make and wear a limited edition jersey just for a specific game, like all black with red numbers against SIU and then auction those off also. The funniest thing though would be to see the players try and put some of those skin tight Daisy Duke shorts on from Jim's day. They should all show up at practice one day like that in honor of their coach and surprise him...

now i know its not exactly what you meant...but the team had originally planned to buy black alternate jerseys...but Kavanaugh vetoed the idea because black is not a primary color of ours.

You are preaching to the choir spitfire. I would also add QUALITY sweatshirts etc! The other day I browsed the BU bookstore site and thought that most of the sweatshirts there would have been of interest to my grandfathers generation.

I think there are a lot of quality sweatshirts in the bookstore, but they're just not advertised online. FWIW

And to be honest, I havent been to the bookstore since last summer...
May have to make a trip over there some lunchtime to check out the shirts etc.

The quality of the gear in the bookstore has really improved. The designer golf wear type stuff looks great. I have a Tommy Hilfiger golf shirt and a Cutter and Buck pull over that are nice enought that I can wear them to the office on BU Game Days!:)

The part that I think stinks is that the bookstore is owned by Barnes and Noble and they are restricted on where they can sell merchanidise. I mentioned the last time I was in that they should set up stands in the foyer during pre season events and at the PCC. They said because of the Barnes and Noble affiliation they are restricted from doing that.

If you notice that stuff for sale at the PCC is very limited. They have the Rivermen extravaganza out front, but limited BU wear.

Can you imagine the money to be made by having a Bradley store stocked with good quality stuff in every shape and size similar to what they have for the Rivermen. Sometimes these things just confuse the heck out of me.

As I understand it, at one time, that was going to be a shared space between the Rivermen and Bradley.

The Braves merchandise is terrible.

How do they not have soccer jerseys to buy when their team is on the cusp of a Final 4 appearance???

I got a press guide the other night. The kid took my money and then had to go underneath the table to get my book. It's a great book and I've been getting one for years. But you won't sell too many of them if you keep them hidden. Can't blame Barnes and Noble for that.

The had soccer jerseys for sale at the home soccer games this year, I have not seen them anywhere else though

Has anyone seen the store that Missouri St. sets up at Union Station during the MVC tourney? Mo. St actually rents a spot in the Union Station mall. They have all kinds of stuff and the place is usually filled with their fans buying up the merchandise. This is the kind of thing that BU needs to do at the Civic Center. I know their are obstacles to work around but I think it would be worth it to find a way to make this happen. 11597 potential customers all in one place!!!! There is $$$ to be made here.

That is the problem. i am not blaming Barnes and Noble. There is no one vendor selling common merchandise. You might find this here or that there, more here or less there.

The bookstore has the most and the best stuff, but that is the only place they can sell it and during business hours at that. You might find the soccer jerseys at a home soccer game, but that is the only place you can buy it.

Chuckyt I completely agree with your post... As long as the CC doesnt charge an arm and a leg for renting a small spot, a BU gear kiosk would be a certain money maker.

I have not been to a game this year but last year at the S Miss game there was a kiosk out by the orginal ticket office. It didnt have a lot to choose from.

The book store over the summer had a ton of stuff to choose from. I bought a jacket and a pull over sweatshirt. I think they had jerseys but they were not the high quality stuff.

Many years ago BU had a sale during the red/white scrimmage and they sold everything. I have a game jersey with the name of Fhrommer on in, think he was a walk on from the 80's. Maybe they could do something like that again.

SIU also has a room they rent, 2 years ago it was in the Marriott across from Old Busch that sold a lot of SIU clothing in STL.

I would like a nice selection of clothing to buy in STL right in the hotel, but that is a no brainer to have at the CC during games.

I have approached the bookstore in the past about jerseys but have always been told they couldn??™t do it. Gonzaga has jerseys for sale online??¦

It seems to me that there would be a lot of people interested in a #20 or #14 jersey? Looking ahead, I??™ll also take a #5 and #41!

That seems odd. I know that NCAA rules don't allow the players' names on the back of replica jerseys but there is no rule against selling jerseys with just the numbers on them.

They do have some Majestic (I think) jerseys on clearance right now for around $38. . .they are not embroidered, but do have #33 and the current font on the front (no name on the back). . .not bad, but not authentic.

The bookstore has to order in tonnage. So, obviously, they can't just order everything everybody wants.
