BU needs a Brad Stephens

The problem I have about our next coach is that they will under the gun to produce right away. I hope are all a bit patient and let them build a foundation and bring in the players that fit their system. One thing you see from the winning programs is a swagger like it or not. TB has a bit of swagger so they can start building it from there. He'll be the leader of the team! I want a coach that will stress in your face D and not in our house type of attitude.

There is a reason there is only on Brad Stephens.

Agreed, I always laugh at posts like these. I love Butler BBall, have for years, but people act like its simple, if it were everyone would do it.

And Butler being in a worse conference actually helps them, lol.

That's true. And yes, we need to at least get our home court advantage back first. Do that and we will bring in more fans even if we still struggle on the road.

I know not every coach is a Brad Stephens type, but just getting back to fundamentals and tough defense would be a step in the right direction, with fewer injuries of course! :D

Butler's in a worse conference yet makes deep runs over and over. Cone on BU find a coach that can do great things

First of all, Horizon was the better league this year.

Also, Memphis of CUSA and Gonzaga of WCC are in worse conferences yet make deep runs over and over.

Would the MVC would be better served if one of the teams emerged as a consistent NCAA power like a Memphis, Xavier, Butler, and Gonzaga? If we had one stud, periennal power team, would it improve the overall image of the conference?

He will only be "under the gun" by those few anti-BU Administration Negative Nellies that exist on this board. We all know who they are. I think the vast majority of Bradley fans look at this change with optimism and are smart enough to understand that Rome wasn't built in a day. Go BU! :)

I don't know....it doesn't seem to me like anyone cares about those conferences....it's pretty much like those teams have seperated themselves from the rest of their conference

Not at all IMO. But it definitely makes it easier for those schools...

Recruiting Players With The Talent To Succeed in the MVC is #1 in my book for the next head coach at BU.

Having talented players but (1) not coaching/developing them and (2) having talented players play unmotivated basketball is hard to watch. I'd rather watch below-average players play smart, team basketball with motivation from tipoff to the final whistle.

IMO, the new hire should be "under the gun" if you are anti or pro Admin. You don't fire a coach who was beset with injuries this season, with great new facilities, and a good recruiting class coming in, or was, if you can't find someone who will win immediately. I for one look at this change with skeptisism, think I spelled it right, but I wish the new coach well and hope he takes us to the Big Dance.

why in the world would a new coach be "under the gun" the first year?
I don't think it's fair to treat the next coach unfairly just because the last one got fired.....We didn't do that the last time?

I'd rather watch talented players who are motivated and well coached! ;-)

JL was fired becasue he couldn't win (which means that maybe he couldn't coach). The injuries had nothing to do with it. This year, BU should have had at least 4-5 more wins than what they did. Just look at the the Ill St games. If he wins the games that the team should have won, then I think JL would still be here.

I know that the recruits liked him and are sorry to see JL go, but I hope they wait to see who comes in because they will are going to have a better "coach" to play for at BU. Maybe the new guy will not be as likeable, but I'm confident he will be a better coach.
