Bradley is recruiting several junior college players for 2010. The first name to be revealed publically on a recruiting site is Cephas Oglesby.
He is a 6'1" shooting guards from Cape Fear Community College in Cape Fear, North Carolina. He averaged 16.2 ppg as a freshman last season.

Rivals now shows Bradley recruiting him-

He is #24 here-

There are others, and we will hear more about them in the days to come.

Looks like there will be a visit to the hilltop next week-end if he doesn't commit to Towson(10/16) according to the rivals site!

I would say unlikely, but you be the judge...

Visit

Visit

Well, I am gonna assume the visit went well because I can't take any other bad sports news this weekend. I can't wait for basketball games to start after watching The Illini and Bears this weekend.

Oglesby commits to Towson, the two main reasons for his decision are immediate playing time available..where at BU he sees lots of good guards ahead of him.
In fact the redshirt giving Andrew Warren TWO more years was a big factor, since as a juco kid he only has two years to play at D-I and kids like Sam M, AW, Dyricus, and Jake are all there ahead of him at Bradley.
second thing was the desire to stay close, he is a North Carolina native....

"I am very excited to be part of the Towson University basketball program. I
have always dreamed of playing Division One basketball and to know to have
the opportunity to do so is great. I can't wait to lead Towson to the NCAA
Tournament," said Oglesby.

Cephas will have two years to play for Towson University in the Colonial
Athletic Association starting next fall.

"I feel like Cephas made a great decision. It was a great fit for both parties.
Cephas is big-time athlete. Towson got a special player with Cephas. The
staff at Towson did a tremendous job of recruiting him," said Mantlo.

Oglesby is a Fayetteville, NC native.
Oglesby visited Bradley University and ...before deciding on Towson University."

Just in case anyone is interested in how Cephas Oglesby turned out...if you recall he was close to coming to Bradley then chose his hometown school --

But -- it has now been nearly TWO years since Cephas Oglesby chose Towson over Bradley.....and here's what happened since.....

first -- he finished out his sophomore season at juco -- did pretty well -- averaging almost 17 ppg and he got Hon. Mention All American at juco then moved on to Towson...

Now keep in mind that Towson was very, very, very weak and thin -- anyone that could walk & chew gum would have helped and gotten playing time..

Towson went 0-18 in the Colonial and 4-26 overall - finishing the season on a 0-19 run...

BUT -- Oglesby still never played......was never deemed well enough from nagging knee problems..

He played a bit in their preseason scrimmages and practices and then sat from mid-Oct. on with tendinitis in his knees.......

..all the way through November 20 when they say he hurt his knee in practice so he is a full redshirt --- he didn't even need the injury since he never played a single minute of any game...
"Oglesby is out indefinitely with a knee injury. The junior and JC transfer is expected to earn significant
playing time for Towson but needs to get healthy first"

Sadly -- he may never be the same and may never play --

as recently as this past summer a couple articles say he is still battling knee problems and has not yet gotten back on the court...

"He had surgery again recently, and his status is uncertain."

More followup on Cephas Oglesby who was once a BU recruiting target...

He never played at Towson and ended up leaving and having surgery on his knee and sitting out all of the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons.

He is now recovered and has landed at Texas A&M - International.

BUT -- he gets there just as the head coach at TAMU-I (or TAMIU) leaves to take a spot as assistant women's basketball coach at Fresno State!
Top TAMU-I assistant Bryan Weakley takes over immediately as head coach.

Actually Cephas got out of Towson just in time - their 2011-2012 season was quite possibly the WORST college basketball season for any D-I school ever!
Multiple players bolted and left - but they went 1-31, losing even to D-II opponents, hitting only 36% of shots overall and 27% as a team from 3-pt range,
They had 240 MORE turnovers than their slate of weak opponents had, and barely averaged 50 ppg.
These guys were bad - really bad - and a 60-27 loss at Drexel set all kinds of records in futility.
