BU recruit- class of 2011- Chasson Randle

As I said in the thread about yesterday's Flash Flanagan Hoops Review, the 3 players I was most impressed with at the event were Chasson Randle (Rock Island), Bobo Drummond (Peoria Central), and Jordan Prosser (the best and most consistent post player at the event). The fact that Randle and Drummond stood out is more amazing considering Randle is a sophomore and Drummond is a freshman.
Those 2 guys will continue to get national recruiting interest before their high school days are over.

Chasson has a nice games, playing off the bench and hitting 4 of 5 shots, scoring 9 pts, 2 rebs

A friend of a friend (so let that be a warning as to how reliable this really is).. is very close to Matt Painter.
Painter thinks he has Randle locked up.

The "he" refers to the noun in the same sentence...Painter.

Also just heard Duke is now interested..so maybe Painter is not as confident this afternoon as he was this morning.
 
As we suspected, Chasson Randle now has so many offers from high-major schools, he has eliminated some of the schools that had offered him, and one of those eliminated is Bradley. In an interview with the Iowa State Rivals site, Randle said this:

Cyclone Sports Report: Can you list all your scholarship offers?

Chasson Randle: I have offers from Florida State, Illinois, DePaul, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Iowa State, Ohio State, Purdue, Miami (Fla.), and Wisconsin. I also had offers from Northwestern and Bradley but I recently informed their coaches that I have decided to look in a different direction...
CSR: There have been reports that Duke has started recruiting you. Is this true?
CR: Yeah, Coach Wojciechowski has been recruiting me and I guess they are going to come to Rock Island this fall to see some of my open gyms.
CSR: Where would they stand with you if they chose to offer you a scholarship?
CR: With Duke they definitely have a reputation as a top program and so if they offered me they would be right up there with my leaders but I wouldn't make any decision right on the spot.
CSR: It seems that you are in no hurry to make a final decision. Is this correct?
CR: Yeah, it's not very likely that I'll make a decision during the school year. I might make it next summer but I'm just not sure yet.
CSR: Is there a lot of pressure from friends and fans to stay in state and go to Illinois?
CR: There is a lot of Illinois fans that want me to go there but since I'm close to Iowa there is also a lot of Iowa and Iowa State fans that tell me to go to their schools. It's fun but I just try to focus on what I can control and I feel that I need to choose the situation that fits me the best.
 
The very fact that Bradley has hung in there with the heavyweights until now speaks volumes to the credit of Coach Les.
It is understandable that we won't likely land the 5-Star, Duke-caliber kids...but at least we are being mentioned in among the big boys.
Even if we can't land him, I would love to see the kid go somewhere nearby, maybe Big Ten so we can watch the kid.
He is going to be a great player.
 
Did the Richwoods game against Rock Island and Randle is a ton! He wasn't selfish- plays pretty good D and is a great shooter/scorer.

He hit two shots that had defenders draped all over him and he drained the shot....

If BU could get him- it would be huge.. I know Bruce Weber was at the game Wednesday to check him out
 
I agree with you. I saw him play AAU last summer, and he was as good as they come. Unfortunately for BU, he's way too good for a "midmajor" and will end up at a Top 20 school.
