BU recruit-class of 2012- Jeff White

wow...I stand corrected. I did not know that he was at a JUCO before Bradley. I'm in the same graduating class as him and was just under the impression he was a freshman.
 
He started at Bevill state his first year out of high school but left school before the basketball season began.
According to NCAA rules, his 5-year clock began ticking in the fall of 2007, even thought he never played his first game at BU until fall of 2008.
His clock would expire in fall of 2012 unless he gets a 6th year -- and I have a reasonable sense that NCAA has never done it before - giving a 6th year to a kid who VOLUNTARILY sat out one of his 5 years, even tho missing one to injury/illness.

There was some talk that maybe he left school in 2007 due to injury but he'd have to give that evidence to NCAA..and I don't know if he has.
 
Except that he went to a JC before coming to Bradley, got hurt and redshirted so that means a 6th year waiver is required for him to play past this coming year. I am more hopeful than some that this might be granted but I have no data to support it. Just a feeling.
 
Hard to predict what the NCAA will do in any case, but giving TB a sixth year (if he requests one) would seem to make a lot of sense from a policy standpoint. I would think they would want to encourage athletes and schools to play it safe, as TB and Bradley did, in this type of a situation.
 
but CABU -- the NCAA has a set of rules and on occasion they do try to follow them..
what point in the rules about getting a 6th year would TB claim applies to him...?

Congratulations to Jacoby! I'm glad he found a school that he's happy with and I hope they offer him a chance at getting some quality playing time.

He really is a hard worker but I thought his size would prevent him from getting looks from D-1s. I'm guessing he will play the 3 so it helps that he has improved his jump shot.

Manual could have 5 former players playing D-1 basketball by the fall of 2012.
 
per his AAU coach Peoria Manual's Jeff "Keke" White just got a solid offer fvrom Kent State -- so Geno is going to have to battle his buddy Rob Senderoff....

Manual guard Jeff White just accepted an offer from Loyola University. This is like the 6th D1 player to come out of Manual the past 3 years i believe. Great tradition down there.
 
I just heard this, too, from a reliable source. Congratulations to Jeff White. He has had great coaching at Manual and with Mike Mullins' Wolves program. Loyola is going to be a lot better quickly with Jeff and the other 2012 kids coming in next year.
