BU recruit- class of 2012- Mislav Brzoja

amazing the spell Calipari seems to have over these recruits....they have these kids in a trance - just waiting and eating out of their hands...

"Mislav Brzoja’s high school coach spoke ..about Brzoja’s visit to UK’s campus this past week.
Kentucky played host to the 6-5 shooting guard who arrived Wednesday night before leaving Thursday evening.
Though according to Brzoja’s coach the visit went well, he has still not received an official offer from the Kentucky coaching staff.
His high school coach, David Jamerson, had the following to say about the visit:
“I think (Brzoja and his host family are) hopeful and excited, and they’re just going to wait and see in the next four or five days
what direction Kentucky wants to go…They loved (Calipari). Honestly they loved everything.”

While on his visit, Brzoja worked out with some of the Kentucky players (though which players were in attendance could not be verified).
His coach admitted that the level of play in some of the drills during the workout were a test for Brzoja.
His coach seemed to feel like the visit overall was very positive, but the Kentucky coaches still have some decisions to make before offering Brzoja.
His coach did seem to believe that Kentucky might have an opening for a shooting role for Brzoja to fill on their roster."

What's odd is that this column (a premium Rivals article) that interviews Brzoja and his coach - states that Calipari watch him work out on campus..

BUT -- that is a clear NCAA violation - I hope someone calls them on this.......

"overall, he felt like he did well."
Jamerson said Calipari and UK's assistants didn't give Brzoja..any specific feedback about how he played in Lexington.
Calipari also watched Brzoja last week during an AAU tournament in Merrillville, Ind.,
"Obviously I think they like him," Jamerson said. "I think they have a lot going on, so they're really evaluating him."

While he waits to see whether UK makes an offer, Brzoja is considering offers from Bradley, where he's officially visited;
Northwestern, where he's unofficially visited; Marquette; Dayton and Providence, Jamerson said.
Jamerson said Brzoja and his host family were impressed with Calipari and enjoyed their time in Lexington.
"They loved (Calipari)," Jamerson said. "Honestly they loved everything. They thought he was amazing.
They commented on that several times, just 'Wow, what a dynamic, engaging guy.' They really enjoyed spending time with him.

Soon enough Brzoja should know whether he'll have a UK offer to consider.
"I think they're hopeful that could happen, absolutely," Jamerson said."

Mizlav Brzoja hasn't gotten an offer yet from Calipari and Kentucky. He is currently on a visit to Dayton

After failing to meet admission standards at Northwestern, and rumors of him heading several other directions, Mislav Brzoja now plans to attend Villanova.

Brzoja played a bunch of ball this summer for the U18 Croatian team - but he's still planning to be at Villanova - tho no official word from anyone at Villanova - which is a sign he might not be cleared yet.

After 4 games on a sub-par Villanova team, Brzoja is an afterthought:

16 minutes
.3 pts
5 asst

That's it.

He's a freshman on a team that historically has a ton of really good guards. How much time do our freshman guards receive? It's real rare that a first year player comes out the gate flying.

my point precisely - most kids want playing time and immediate playing time at that -- and Bradley has a history of their freshmen guards playing a pretty fair amount..
kids like Andrew Warren, Jeremy Crouch, Sam Maniscalco, Jalen Crawford, Jake Eastman, Ka'Darryl Bell, Walt Lemon, DSE, and many, many more have all gotten really decent playing time as freshmen, and...

...and I suspect Brzoja would have also - especially if he were able to hit an outside shot...
So by choosing Villanova he will pretty much blow off his freshman year - and still be battling for miniscule playing time a few years after that...
..where he'd have likely been playing satisfactory minutes at a mid-major......

as a followup to the two kids Bradley recruited hard last spring and summer - and really wanted to land desperately...
both of these kids would have been better off at Bradley but listened to their advisors and went elsewhere....

Matej Buovac is at new Mexico State...they aren't very good & they don't play a tough schedule...
last nite he played in only his 3rd game of the season, and got off one missed shot...
He has played a total of 20 minutes in 3 games and is 2-6 from 3-pt

Mislav Brzoja is at Villanova and has played at least a minute or two in 7 games...
He has not made a basket yet this season and in 25 total minutes of play has just 2 free throws and a couple rebounds

U sure his name is not Milos Brzoja?

Brzoja has barely played - 26 minutes all year - but there's something else interesting going on at Villanova...

'Nova has been slumping - people were actually calling for the firing of head coach Jay wright...
then suddenly -- Villanova beats two Top 5 teams in a row!
..and in the process the press that had been hammering Wright - kind of admits he outcoached two Hall of Famers (Boeheim & Pitino)
They are on a tear - one of their stars gets named National Player of the Week,

One Villanova player just left & is transferring and there are rumbles about Brzoja..

btw - the Croatian assistant under Bill Carmody who was friend and mentor that secured Brzoja's commitment at Northwestern - has been cut loose by new hire Chris Collins..
so I guess if we are still interested in Brzoja and want to lure him to transfer here - we ought to find a way to get Ivan Vujic here...
