BU Recruit spotted on campus.

Gargoyles

New member
6'4 Andre Gilbert spotted today at BU. Apparently, he flew in from California for a visit. Other than that, not much information to pass along.

PM me if you want the skinny on Andre Gilbert,
a very athletic 6-6 forward who was originally from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

Andre Gilbert

Andre Gilbert

Is this the same Andre Gilbert who red shirted at SDSU - and is he clear of all his 'legal' issues?

The kid went to trial and was found innocent. End of discussion. If he is a hardworking, dedicated and a team player, hell yes I want him. :x

Hmmm... I remember a great MVC player that was cleared of 'legal' issues - Rolen Roberts at SIU. Or how about 'legal' issues resolved for the wonderful individuals part of the 2005 Cryin' Illini team. (btw, Roberts was at SIU under Weber, not that it means anything) And what about the Duke LaCrosse team - are they still viewed as criminals?

Yeah, I don't see how if he was acquitted of criminal charges, he could still be held accountable financially for the deaths of Nicole Simpson and Goldman. I know how off topic this is and therefore will not carry on anymore.

Less burden of proof.....no "beyond reasonable doubt" needed. IOW anyone with a lick of sense could see he was guilty......its just the state did a poor job convincing that PARTICULAR jury.

So...he can't be a BU assistant

I promise this is the last one. It's too bad because I bet OJ could carve up a zone defense, and I'v also heard he works well with young players on their slashing and cutting.

Civil trials don't render a verdict of guilt, they render a judgement either for or against the defendant.
There is no immunity from repeat suits in civil cases as there is (double jeopardy) in criminal cases.

At the risk of taking this thread even further away from Bradley basketball, there is a concept in civil cases similar to double jeopardy -- res judicata -- i.e. once an an issue or case has been decided, it cannot be relitigated by the same parties. It doesn't apply to prevent a civil suit after a criminal defendant has been acquitted because the plaintiffs in the civil suit were not parties in the criminal action, and because of the different burden of proof (there is no determination in a criminal action that the defendant was "innocent," only that they are not guilty b/c the prosecutor failed to meet its burden of proof.

Back to A Gilbert being on campus....any news if he was offered or not....did anyone hear how his scrimmage went....please after the jeremy bad day yesterday I could use some good BU news! :-o

New Player?

I would expect we'll be hearing news of another player committing within the next few days, now that Fears is gone. At least I'm hoping 8)
