BU season review

I'm writing for a site called examiner.com, which is no competition to this board because it isn't a message board. I'm working as the Bradley Braves Examiner, spreading the word about all BU sports, not just basketball.

The link is www.examiner.com/x-7020-Bradley-Braves-Examiner and I would love it if you threw it in your favorites and checked it out on your way to the BradleyFans.com message board. The first article is a season review of the Braves, player-by-player. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this thread.

If you have any feedback, shoot me a line... sorry for the incorrect link earlier.

Thanks Coach... I just think that Sam didn't take much of a step forward. He shot poorly and didn't protect the ball as much as I would have liked. He had a nice season, and maybe his grade was a little tough... we'll see where his minutes come from next year.

Thanks for the kind words.

Pretty good review......

A Refreshing Review!

A Refreshing Review!

Joe, nice work, it's rare that we get to read something about Bradley basketball that is this objective. However for the record, Thompson was the redshirt freshman and not Brown and Collins rarely if ever jumped center!

Good work Joe. I'd give Maniscalco a B or B-, and I'd give Collins a C or C-. Roberts had a strange up and down season and, on the whole, I'd probably lower him down to a B-.

I understand how you might think of Brown as a redshirt since he essentially sat out a year between high school and college.

Technically, Brown is a Redshirt Freshman, too. His Dad redshirted him himself at home last year.

Did the NCAA actually start his "eligibility clock" last year. Did he enroll at a JUCO or a prep school? I can't remember... Does it matter since he never played?

From the BU website:

Non-Traditional Route

??? An initial qualifier out of high school, Brown opted for the junior college rout to improve his game.

??? Sustained an injury before the 2007-08 season, however, then withdrew from Bevill State after the completion of the fall semester to train at home with his father, former NBA player Ricky Brown.

??? Having redshirted the 2007-08 season, Brown will have four years to complete his four years of eligibility at Bradley.

yes, it starts when you enroll in a 4-year college or in juco.

if you just take a couple years off like Sean Harris (for military or religious service) then you have an exemption or if you just choose not to enroll after HS like Mareceo Rutledge or Ahmad Grant, did then the clock isn't ticking.

I'd give DC the B- based strickly on his improvement over last year

David Collins:
points: 4.5 ppg this year - 3.8ppg last year
rebounds: 4.0 rpg this year - 2.4 rpg last year
blocks: 50 this year - 13 last year
shooting %: 45% shooting this year - 65.2% last year
turnovers: 57 turnovers this year - 27 turnovers last year
66.7% from the free throw line both years
3 assists in his career (all this year)
12 steals in his career (8 this year)

I'd give DC the B- based strickly on his improvement over last year and SS the D...

If you knew the therapy and routine that SS probably goes through after each game with his knee, you probably wouldnt be so harsh on SS. SS is a reserve who has been thrown into major minutes. GIVE HIM A BREAK!
