BU staying on WMBD

When they say Bradley and Rivermen games conflicting, do they mean like the other non-basketball sports?

'Cause I didn't get why the basketball and hockey games would conflict considering they're played in the same arena.

The conflict they are referring to is with the broadcasts- There would be several nights during the season where Bradley and the Rivermen would be playing at the same time (with 1 or both on the road). If one station broadcast both teams' games, it would have to preempt one, or tape delay one.

Thanks Dave for another great article.

Might be interesting to know the numbers of those listening on the nights there would have been a conflict (Bradley listeners vs Rivermen listeners).

Also...

Never knew this:

"It is believed to be the longest continuous partnership in the United States between a radio station and a Division I basketball team."

We may never know for certain, but this sounds as if BU listened to the offer from WZTN and kindly said thanks but no thanks. imo

Bradley and Rivermen games conflict only a handful of times per season. Rivermen could handle a few preemptions in an 80+ game schedule.
