BU vs ISU

This is the 1st game I've seen us just quit...a disturbing sign at this point in the season. We quit today. started with sloppy play on offense, them missed shots, then our usual meltdown out of locker room(8-1 today), followed by 1-14 to start 2nd half and getting absolutely annihilated on boards and in paint. Ashamed to be a fan today

I'm going to say that this was an awful effort! I'm am not happy at all. If you can't get fired up for this game then what can you get fired up for? The effort from all the posts was absolutely pathetic. We need a guy who can get a basket down low when things are going bad, and we didn't have that today. Rebounding was pathetic.

I thought this team had at least had the effort problem fixed! I honestly think we should start playing the younger guys, we need to see what AT, JE, MK, and DSE can do. It is still one game, but this is one I think us Bradley fans always want more than any other. I think it has become too late in the season to expect a major turnaround unless we make a run in the conference tourny. I still believe next year will be great and I believe in JL and the direction of the program, but this year has been a disappointment. I am not going to blame anything but our effort tonight.
 
I'll never be ashamed to be a fan. However, I agree that we lost focus after knotting it up at 21! They go on a 14-5 run and then we come out in the 2nd half and couldnt hit the broad side of a barn!

That is 2 games in a row that we have lacked focus to the game plan. Don't really understand how you can't have focus.
 
Maniscalco and DSE played hard the whole game, Taylor good 1st half but appeared to quit playing along with Egolf in the 2nd half, worse effort I can remember in a long time , it is apparent how much better ISU is recruiting players better then we are as it looked like men playing against boys. We need a bench that can contribute more then 7-8 points a game as our starters are having to play way too many minutes.

Especially for this game is what is even more disappointing to me. Almost every Bradley ISU game is a decent game just because no matter where the teams are it always means a lot. Now we are in similar places, so it means even more beyond just the rivalry and we put forth no effort. Very disappointing. There just seems to be a lack of fire with this team when they need it most, as evidenced by us getting pushed all over the court in this big game. I am still holding out hope for a good showing in St. Louis, but we are a long way from that. I thought we had fixed the effort problem for the year, disappointing to see it is still a problem.

How do we defend JL and the progress of his program now?
 
I had hope for making a run in the tour. but reality says we do not have a true center to go up against the best teams centers in the league (UNI,ISU,Creighton and Wichita ST.) , our starters would have to play way too many minutes in 3 or 4 games to be effective so we have little chance of challenging for the tour. title.
Next season we will have a good starting lineup but very little help off the bench unless we get some big time recruits.

I am here, I am a JL supporter. I'm am saying what I think as well. By the way I think we are all JL supporters while he is coaching BU cause we want to win, I think you mean JL believers, which I am as well.

Maniscalco always plays hard if he is having a good game or not and I appreciate that more than anything. I can't say the same for almost anyone else on this team besides him and DSE and Eastman when they are in. At least that is what I see.

We need a shooter and a big bruiser type guy off the bench IMO. Dodie can hopefully be that shooter next year, I'd like to see us get a JUCO bruiser type guy. I also thought AT looked like he was playing harder, albeit he was only in 2 minutes, but maybe we should see what he can do down low now.

I'm here..... And I don't think you really can defend JL after this game. He's now on "double secret probation". :(
 
At the end of the day, maybe it isn't just about coaching. JL could be the best coach in the world, but if he and his staff aren't successful recruiting talent, or enough talent, perhaps time to try and find someone who can...

Just sayin...
 
Dismal. Embarrassing effort and performance in what is supposed to be a huge, rivalry game.

I guess Wessler was right, afterall, when he said better things aren't ahead. I guess a lot of people on this board now owe him an apology for suggesting that he owed them an apology for having that opinion.

Guess the Kool-Aid crew had their own "knee-jerk reaction" to that fluke of a three game winning streak that we were on...Ooops.:wink:

Actually, the JL supporters are the people who actually go to games and aren't back yet....

Are you implying that they are better fans than we anti-JL people who got stuck working a long, long shift today and thus could not make the drive to normal???

Dude, grow up. Everyone AZ was talking about went to the game. Everyone knows it. If you somehow turned that into a personal insult against yourself you have a serious persecution complex.
