BU vs. SIU-E

Braves started out shooting rather cold... now up 17-12..

Sam Singh getting his first taste of action this year....

JJ is having a great game - have a feeling that is what this season is going to be like, a different guy stepping up each game.

BU responded well tonight against an inferior opponent, treating them the way they should in a letdown situation and against some adversity. JJ Tauai had a career night, going for 22 points (Congrats MM :) ), and Sam Singh made an impressive return to the court. Sam will offer some nice spot relief to Andrews and Salley if he can stay healthy. Crouch and Franklin had very solid games as well, as guard play continues to excel. Great 1st half, very sloppy 2nd half for the Braves.

Now onto UIC, who I worry about tremendously without Daniel Ruffin.

I think we'll see career games from Salley, Zach and Will Franklin :-o Let's see if I'm right

I???‚¬?„?m angry with JJ. I was looking for him to sell me an adult beverage at the half. I mean, why not, he did everything else. Just an absolute complete fantastic game. And wasn???‚¬?„?t it great to see his Missouri running buddy get some minutes. Great to have you back, Sam.

On the down side we have to work on moving screens. I also think that Jim wasn???‚¬?„?t very happy with Zach Andrews, Matt Salley, or Saihou Jassey. Zach and Matt were too sloppy at times and Saihou was too quick to shoot. Just my opinion.

I certainly hope Ruff can return soon, but I surely would not rush him. It???‚¬?„?s better to miss a few games now and have him back at 100%.

Let???‚¬?„?s put another W in the book Sunday with more great help from the students. Another big turn out. Thanks guys.

It was another good game. JJ stoped up with Daniel out. It was nice to see Sam back. Every game is better. There is some work to do yet. :D

I agree Mike....maybe not Salley but ZA and SJ need to quit forcing things. Now ZA did indeed do some great things but I saw shades of last year in ZA.

Thought JL was going to go Bobby on him at one point.....SJ gets the ball and shoots...Period. Now he CAN stroke it on occasion but he's not ready for prime time. Guess will just have to ride him out but I look for his jr. year before we get decent minutes from him.

WF ran the show well...very well at times but we need DR. JC played excellent defense and went to the hole...also lead the team in assists I think.

BBRave is correct....easy nite for a letdown. With DR we win this by easy an 30.

Those screens were no different than the ones we've set for years and had set against us by opponents.

BUT--the refs have obviously decided to make a point of cracking down on screens and carrying the ball.
We just need to adjust to what the refs are calling.

Five carrying the ball calls were made in our first two exhibition games. One was made in the DePaul game on DePaul. None in this game although Jim wanted one against SIUE. It seems we have made an adjustment there. Now we have to make the adjustment on the moving screens. That is part of the game, making adjustments to the refs. Maybe it shouldn't be, but it is.
