BU's Prez

I used to see Dr. Broski at his usual seat at the basketball games. We all have different personalities. That doesn't mean he didn't have respect for the students and the University. He did great things for Bradley and the way it's starting off, I'm sure President Glasser will too.

I was (un)fortunate enough to deal with Broski quite a bit in my time on the hilltop. I was never impressed with his dedication to the school or the public persona he exhibited in my time there. Most of his pluses can probably be credited to Gary Anna... and that's all I'll say about that.

However, the public relations major in me says our new president saw an opportunity to take whatever missteps Broski made while in office and set herself apart as a new face, dedicated to healing the disconnect that existed between Swords Hall and the rest of the campus. I had the chance to watch her in action before the Michigan State game, and I can safely say there are very few people I'd rather have representing my alma mater than President Glasser.

From what I was told from my friend in Kentucky who covered her, this is how she is. Her high visibility has nothing to do with how her predecessor was. The people hiring her might have chosen her because of this, but I don't think it has influenced her in her short time here.

I have 0 clue what Broski looks like after attending for 4 years. Although it prolly isn't a big deal that I didn't see him, it is nice to see someone as powerful as she doing things a little differently.

Did it affect anyone's education not seeing him?

Broski never did, but President Glasser has. Education at college is so much more than what you learn in the classroom. In fact, I'd say your outside experiences are more important than what you learn in class(And I don't take class lightly). So sure President Glasser didn't directly affect my operations research class or help me understand multiple regression in my statistics class, but she has shown me the effect two different types of leadership can have on a group. She has begun listening to the students needs, begun making needed changes, rather than spending money on elaborate Presidential Receptions or appointing a Bradley staff member to be her significant's other social coordinator, like the previous president did. I'll tell you what, if nothing else. The long term affect she'll have by developing affinity for the university in current students will pay great dividends when we are alumni.
