Carson Cuevas

Disturbed

New member
The kid can play. He is as good or better (at least in my opinion) as Zobrist or Danny Adams out of high school. Seen him play alot over the past three years as an opponent. But I'm sure since he's a small school kid that he wont get a smell from most programs. Kind of kid that BU doesent recruit. But Zobrist and Adams were the same way. I think both were walk -ons.

got any links to video --
but I am sure you are right - that if he plays for a Class 1A or 2A school he's just never gonna get a look from us or any DI...

some pretty good performances last night by local players...

Carson Cuevas 32 pts
Metamora's Nate Kennell 33 pts
PCS' Alex O'Neill 21 pts/15 reb
PCS' Cody Bennington 27 pts
Washington's Lou Griffith 23
Manual's Anton Ivy went 8 for 8/ 16 pts

btw - did u know... one of the local basketball players - a quality kid and starter-caliber player has only one eye?
Virtually nobody knows this fact since he has a cosmetic replacement but this same kid was also one of the top local high school soccer players in the fall and is a straight-A student.
I find that incredible given the need for depth perception at the varsity competetive level.

anyone see the afternoon game - 1A semifinals? (Brimfield won handily)
Carson Cuevas is a stud... he can hit shots, he's incredibly smart and knows the game and reads the defenses - can create his own shot but finds teammates & makes Stephan-Curry-like passes on the dime..

I am convinced if he were on Bradley right this minute he'd be our best point guard and maybe top scorer...although honestly - that still may not be a good testament to how effective the kid looked at this level where only two teams remain..
He may take a little time to reach his peak - but as easily as the Augustana kid ate us up and Reed Timmer from Drake or Brenton Scott - this kid would do the same given the opportunity

I'd give the kid a baseball scholarship or a basketball scholarship or a BMW - whatever he'd want - I'd take him on my team

From what I have heard the athletics aren't an issue for him. Supposedly his ACT score was sub par and is why he is going to ICC.

Any way for a transplanted Illinoisan to follow the tournament.? The site I used last year seems to need registering and payment.

Yes I was there and not quite as impressed as you were. He is a nice player on the O end but not so much on the D end. Could he play for us probably but wouldn't be a difference maker to get us into the upper half of the league. Had a quiet 10 and in 1st half than had a much better 2nd half . Reminds me of the Smithpeters kid at SIU and he can't start at SIU either. I was really impressed with the whole Brimfield team not just a one man team. Hope they win a title tomorrow. Go Indians.

I was impressed with the little things - like sometimes he's got eyes in the back of his head...
and even before one of his teammates made a move, Carson anticipated the move and led him with a pass that seems to suggest he read the kid's mind..

You guys thougth I was nuts when I first posted about him. He can play. I would tell my school (WIU) that he can play baseball and basketball or anything else he wants to play. He's a winner and a leader. Unlike having transfers who dont care or have baggage.

Disturbed - I have thought all along that the kid will play in college even tho he committed for baseball..
He literally carried an otherwise good but not championship-level team...

Saw that Carson plans to play both baseball and basketball at ICC and, as of right now, doesn't have a favorite. Kid has a nose for the ball and is not afraid to take the key shot. He also has a pretty good gun of an arm so it'll be interesting to see how he's able to do both.

He's following in the footsteps of another Brimfield kid, Eddie Mathews - so which college sport and which pro sport did he pick?? ;)

Had Eddie chose to play baseball in college - he'd have played with Kirby Puckett, Mike Dunne, Guy Hoffman, Jim Lindemann, Zach McAllister's dad Steve, Jimmy Shadid ...some pretty good players!
