Catch Brian Wardle today on the radio

sorry - I guess that link is only for the regular ESPN radio broadcast and not the local ESPNPeoria which may not be streamed

they're mostly talking local high school football and Jim Mattson said they will have Brian Wardle on in the next segment -
and I would expect that means between 3:30pm-4pm

3:22pm - they just broke for commercials and Jim promised when they come back that Brian Wardle would be on

Coach thinks he has a team of tough, mature kids...will surprise many..
..the ideal group to build a program with...

Coach thinks he has THREE kids who have defined themselves as starters but he didn't want to say who and thinks it can change...

Once he settles on a starting five he thinks he won't change much and hopes for consistency...

Coach Wardle loves the challenges, he's really motivated and getting picked last is something he loves - he loves coaching with a chip on his shoulder and he thinks the players are the same...he's fired up!!

Jim Mattson says he will be at practice later - hopefully have a video report tonight in the TV news...

Basically said:

Working hard already this offseason

Hoping to have 2 more signees in April

Recruiting Non-Stop

Wishes leaving players well and believes they are leaving on good terms.

Thanks fans and support and said team and him don't take it for granted.

Wants to make BU home games THE event to be at in Peoria.

Will be at kids soccer games all summer and if you see him feel free to say hi.

Watches alot of march madness trying to learn and grow as a coach

Nothing super amazing but everything he said I couldn't think of a way to say it better.

ALSO:

- Talked about having a presence at IHSA tournament and using it to program's advantage

-Talked about how he came to Peoria his last 2 years of high school.

One solid point he makes - is that DEVELOPMENT of players in college largely takes place from March thru July, because the rest of the year is game planning, work on offense/defense sets, and prep for upcoming opponents...
This is the FIRST development period for all these kids since many of them did not get to Bradley's campus til late last summer.

He talked about recruiting without mentioning names..but pointed out how the 1st & 2nd recruiting classes when you take over a program
are so incredibly important..and that we will sign 1 or 2 more kids this spring.

Finally- message to fans..
Brian Wardle thanks the fans - especially the season ticketholders, he is so grateful for how the fans have treated this team, and that he & the team will work to reward those fans.... and that he will make Bradley basketball in Peoria a rewarding event.
