Charlotte's Bobby Lutz-staying at Charlotte

Da Coach

This could have an impact on Bradley's recruiting of Charlie Coley.
Head coach at University of Charlotte, Boby Lutz, has been granted permission by Charlotte to talk to University of South Alabama about their vacant coaching position. John Pelphrey left USA to take the Arkansas job.
Here are several articles--

IMO, there is little chance Lutz will take the South Alabama job. South Alabama plays in the Sun Belt Conference, which is a mediocre league that is spread over 3 time zones. Charlotte is in the Atlantic 10, which is a slightly better league dominated by schools from the northeast. IMO, Lutz is likely using this interest from USA as a tool to get more money from Charlotte. It seems like coaches have learned that even if they wouldn't be interested, it usually benefits them to act interested, and interview anyway. It could be worth a raise and an extension.
I can't see him moving down.

Charlotte's Bobby Lutz is still favored by some to become the next coach at South Alabama, but as of this latest article, he has not been offered the job, yet.

The article refers to the stalled progress on a raise and extension that was discussed with Lutz by school officials at Charlotte.
This could all be a ploy to get what he wants from Charlotte. And if he doesn't get it, then he has the USA offer in his back pocket.

It's being reported tonight that Bobby Lutz has turned down South Alabama's offer and is staying at Charlotte--

Check out the comments after this blog entry. These and comments on their fan's board suggest the fans aren't too happy he's staying--

And on this poll from their fan site, only 42.7% of fans responding are pro-Bobby Lutz. That's not good. (this site may require registration)--

Maybe the charlotte coaching instability will play a roll.....surely CC wouldn't want to commit to a coach who either leaves or gets dismissed after 1 season ...would he? :-o Right now the Bradley coaching situation is rock solid! :D

Let's hope Charlie made up his mind tonight and we just haven't caught wind of it.

My guess is that even if he has made up his mind, BU still has some work to do before they can release that he's signing, like finding the extra 'ship. So it could be a while before we catch any BIG WIND of it.

Yeah...good point, I thought of that also. You would think they would want to announce it when they are sure they have a scholie but then again how do you keep the kid IF you aren't sure you have one. :? :?

My gut tells me this is another Sikes situation though and he goes elsewhere. Once the coaching situation has played out he follows Lutz. BU is a backup plan.....

Again...I think we are ready. Anything else is just a bonus.

Charlotte?

Charlotte?

Backup plan to Charlotte!? :!: :?: :-o

I don't think so 8)

Charlotte signed a 6'7" wing named Lamont Mack yesterday. He committed 2 weeks ago, but had not signed until yesterday. He was waiting to see if Coach Lutz was going to stay. I got this from S I's Truth and Rumors. Wonder waht Chuck Coley thinks of that? Just wanted to let everyone know.
