Chet Walker talks about Lebron

The only thing that upset me about the Lebron deal is that it tells me the NBA plans on continuing operations next year. I had hoped it would close up, what a horrible spectacle it is to watch. And I love basketball????

Does anyone else think this whole James, Bosh, Wade and the Heat smells like nothing but Collusion?

I have a feeling this whole thing was in the works long ago and was discussed while all 3 were under contract and information was exchanged long before July 1st.

Of course nothing would ever happen to the players but I am not going to be surprised if Riley and the Heat are not fined.

Then again something like this is huge for the NBA, Heat now the Villians, and Villians v the good guys(everyone else) is huge ratings. Just like letting the Lakers trade for Paul Gasol with Memphis for virtually nothing, as long as the ratings grabbers get better all is well.

The NBA is not much ahead of "Pro" Wrestling as far as manipulating outcomes and in this case teams.

That's what I've been saying all along. And, IMO, Pat Riley is just as bad..... He's nothing but a snake.... desperately trying to out-do and one-up Phil Jackson..... He's becoming a pathetic old man!

It's been in the works since 2006 at the World Championships. Windhorst does a great job of connecting the dots in his article in the Plain-Dealer. We haven't heard the end of this.

This along with many other things is why I could care less about the NBA, a league of mainly thugs and hoodlums that if it was not for basketball 80% of them would be wearing orange jumpsuits.

Humm wow thats a bit strong but none the less, the point is I suppose it is a very much players league. But it has been that way since I can remember. It is just a lot more Hip-hop I think because of our day and age.

But I bet older posters can remember when the ABA and for that matter the NBA has always been more Urban then the other sports.

It is also much more of a recognition league. Unlike football you see the player recognize the face and the tatts etc.

But just because a guy is self centered, wears dreads, has tatts does not mean he is a thug or would be wearing a orange jumpsuit.

But the NBA has always been a show, and for my money the league offices orchestrates most of the show. Regardless of what the NBA says about Donaghy, it doesnt take much of an eye to know this league is corrupt and often allows cheating.

I'll be so glad when College Hoops talk overtakes NBA talk again on this site.
I guess it's a sign that, all in all, this summer has been a disappointment for Braves fans in the recruiting arena.

agree - I move that we shift all LeBron talk to the "General Sports" forum since it's not College Sports!

I agree with the first part of your statement but not the second part about being a disappointment. I, for one, am not disappointed.

First, we kept our head coach and brought in two fine assistants.

Second, we had no defection of talent. The first time in many years that this did not happen.

Third, the recruits that have signed are high character, high quality players who want to be at BU. Plus, don't rule out a late signee as it has been something Les seems to pull off.

And finally, from all that I have read from our players' twitter posts they seem to be highly motivated and working hard. I am hoping this season will be another special, "Sweet" ;) season! :)

and reference to Riley, Udonis Haslem just re-signed with the Heat for $14 million less than he could of got from Dallas or any other team. Supposedly, Haslem's mom has been ill for a long time but i'd be willing to be that Riley is forking over some dough under the table. Gotta have a capable big man to clean up the garbage underneath.

There a good deal of older basketball players who DREAM of having the same free agency powers that Lebron and D-Wade had this year, so I think Chet is just wishing he lived in the same time as Lebron.

And I wonder how long everyone is going to be sooooo bitter about Lebron not choosing Chicago. That's what happens when 4 teams dump salary to focus on free agency and nothing else; 3 teams are going to get burnt!

People are more bitter about Cleveland than Chicago. He didn't leave Chicago in tatters.

The NBA has not always been a "show." Back in the day (Cousy, Sharman, Russell, Chamberlain, Oscar, Baylor, et al, it was still a team game, featuring the greatest players in the game, without the reality show b_ _ _ _ _ _ t.
