Chi-Tribune on projected local college signings today....

Not saying that Coach Buescher isn't top notch, but isn't that an odd statement out of the blue like that? Why would they just say that out of nowhere at the end of the page?

Brian Stinnett, the writer and scout who runs ChicagoHoops.com does that at least once or twice in all his recruiting blurbs. He picks a coach or assistant from some school he runs into on the recruiting trail and says he's a real good dude, or top-notch, or some similar phrase.

Yeah-- he does it is every one of his recruiting updates....probably a way of gaining favor with the people he does "business" with...
here are just a few examples...

--"James Wilhelmi of Howard University is a real good dude."

--"hot shot assistant coach Jeff Guin, a tireless performer on the recruiting trail."
http://www.chicagohoops.com/articles1/brianstinnette101.html

--"Southern Illinois University head coach Chris Lowery is Top-Notch."
"Missouri State assistant coach Jon Harris is a real good dude."
"University of San Francisco head coach Rex Walters is Top-Notch."

--"My man Gene Cross, head coach of the University of Toledo, is top-notch."

O.K. Makes more sense now, I was not aware of the author's tendancies. Thanks for the info.
