Is it me, or do all of the FA talks seem to never involve the bears???

just heard on SC that TJ Houschejmklajsdlfn...da just signed w/ the seahawks.

the bears didn't even make a play for him.

I feel like the Bears admin is just asleep at the wheel with all of these great players passing them by.

were too-busy trying to re-sign St Clair and Kevin Jones before somebody comes in and swoops-em-up

They do want to talk to Darren Sharper but he is visiting NO Saints first.....he would be a nice fir to replace Mike Brown!

I don't think they're cheap when it comes to players--- though maybe they are when it comes to coaches and front office people, because I do think they're pretty bad at trying to actually field a competitive team. Payroll is there, talent evaluation appears to be lacking.

i would muuuuuuch rather have a 1 year deal rather than a 2 year. make petterson earn his contract for the following year

Petterson is one of those players who I think will never get it... He has a lot of natural ability though.... The Bears can always cut Jones the following year....

I think Holt would be a good-move and affordable for a couple of years until the new draft pick WR (I hope angelo is smart enough to draft a #1 WR) gets acclimated to the NFL...TH would provide great leadership to the newbies(see below) and teach Hester a thing or two....Pace on the other hand might be injured (although he only gave up 2 ssacks lasst season!) :o

Holt avg 80 yds/ game in his career @ almost 12,000 yards....

This doesn't "pump me up"...but it is typical Bears...

Bears may be in the running for Jay Cutler, which would be awesome for us. Thing is, they want a QB in return, and I can't imagine them being all that excited about Kyle Orton. I figure the bears could (SHOULD) offer Orton and a first rounder at least. Be very nice to see it happen, but I have low confidence.

The Chicago sports-talk radio shows are talking non-stop about the Bears possibly getting Cutler, and the impact he would have. Now it looks like all the newspaper columnists are piling onto the argument, too.

However, I haven't yet seen any bit of evidence that the Bears are interested. They probably don't have much to trade. The Broncos want a quarterback in return, and I doubt they would take Orton. They also want a high draft pick, and the Bears' probably isn't high enough for them (#18 pick). The Detroit Lions apparently are also interested, and they have a really high 1st rounder (#1 overall pick).
And finally-- what in the Bears' history is there that would lead any fan to actually believe the Bears' management would do something like this that everyone thinks would improve their team?

I would love to see it, but I am not holding my breath.

Close to the cellar! ;)

I don't think it's likely because of the Orton factor... But I'd almost go so far as to roll a Ditka/Ricky Williams style trade to get Cutler.
