Chicago Eliminated from 2016 Olympics

What do these new FTC regulations have to do with these people and what they are saying?

It's about fraudulently promoting products....Get a grip people, nobody is going to take your away freedom of speech. I swear the right has gone nuts over the democrats running things, it's your own fault and it's not going to get any better for you guys acting like a bunch of babies that just had their candy taken away.....Are you one of these people screaming...I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK.

Murph, I agree with you. I don't know what the big deal is here???????

Where were you guys when the Bush administration authorized domestic spying? Thats much more scary than the FTC regulating advertising on blogs.

crickets chirping ;-)

So private individuals who blog into their private blogs and do no harm to anyone are the same as terrorists who are avowed to attack the US, kill Americans, and bring down our government? Unbelieveable!

A private blog is absolutely no different than a private diary, or anything you say or write in the privacy of your own home. The government has no right to legislate what you say.

I do agree that if you promote violence, or threats against other citizens, then the government should be involved. That was the purpose of the Bush administration's actions, and the majority of Americans agree with it. But legislating opinions about products or reviews of a movie you've seen is unwarranted intrusion.

But DC we are not talking about the wiretapping of terrorists who were trying to bring down the government. I am talking about the monitoring of international emails and phone calls, of people inside the United States without court approval!

That is far more dangerous to individual freedoms than regulating blogs to protect the consumer against fraudulant products.

Murph...domestic spying just saved possibly hundreds maybe thousands of people's lives from the three Islamic terrorists that were plotting to blow up things in Dallas, Springfield, IL, and NY...
I for one will allow the govt. to spy all they want if they catch these terrorists.
I have nothing to hide, do you?

I can't even imagine the hysteria from to right if the Obama administration tried to do something like that.

T, I am fine with domestic spying as long as it is done with court approval and within the legal limits of established laws! That check and balance is needed.

all -- I REPEAT ALL - governments spy within their own borders...it is an absolute necessity...
even when you enter at any border...they require you to submit and allow them to spy on your belongings and even on your own body...at times even making you takes clothes off....as has happened to family members of mine...
so maybe if you want to go to a country that is free from any form of spying....check out this place...
Not much spying going on here, it's the only place you can feel free

No, I have nothing to hide and am Ok with what they are doing as long as it isn't abused.

Are you planning on defrauding some innocent consumer on your blog?

We have never needed big government to police everything we buy and sell before.
As it has been for thousands of years, and in every country in the world's history- caveat emptor.

These new provisions require bloggers to reveal all material connections they have with the maker or producer of the product or service they are promoting.
This is a quote form the goverment release about these new provisions of the FTC act-

"bloggers who make an endorsement must disclose the material connections they share with the seller of the product or service."

so that means that if I make any positive statement about Bradley basketball on this site, or on a blog, I am now required by these government laws to reveal clearly what material connections I have with Bradley.

So from now on, I will avoid saying anything positive about Bradley
or maybe I will add a signature to all my posts that detail every penny I have donated, and every free ticket, free drink, or other perk I have gotten from Bradley at their booster events. It's my duty under President Obama's law, and many of the other posters here should do the same to avoid legal penalties.:?

The government already intrudes enough into everyone's daily life...they take half our productivity in taxes and give a lot of it to those who who choose not to be productive.
There are only a few who actually want and welcome the government getting EVEN more intrusive in our daily lives, and they are called liberals and socialists...
In time, we will be communist while the rest of the ex-communist nations have already learned their lessons.

no, those are definitely things I would love to see the federal government stay out of, and I suspect you'd agree with me, right?

The federal government has no rights intruding on what individual citizens say on their private blogs or message boards. Do you believe they do?
If you do, then does the government have a right to police what you say in your own home, and what you do in private?

I don't care much for Glen Beck, but why doesn't he have the right to free speech just the same as Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Rachel Maddow, Bill Ayres, Van Jones, and Louis Farrakhan? Why do people feel so compelled to want to stop right-leaning people from saying what they want, but seem so demanding that others be allowed to say whatever they want?
Now theres a group of out standing straight forward and truth speaking people:roll: I can understand :?:lol:why some people are scared to death of Glen Beck, Michelle Malkin, and Billy O. with these blood suckers running their mouths around:-P If the rest of the world would open up their arms and hearts as the fine people of Decatur Ill. did when Rev. Jesse came to make himself righteous there, these free loaders would have to find another scam to fill theirs pockets:!:
As for forgiving Michlle Obama's little lie to the Olympic committee, there's a Pastor in Chicago that will pray for her:-o:-o:razz:

GB doesn't scare me half as much as that group and the so called pastor, because their guy is in power. To his credit though, I might be wrong but I think he may be distancing himself from that group.

Chico, how does your odometer measure in billions of the inch. JK:lol: I hope you are right:!:

DC and T, have you ever watched CNBC when they interview a stock broker about stock picks etc? After the interview, CNBC asks and displays a checklist of stocks or funds that the broker or their family may or may not own as to be upfront about everything to try to eliminate that person from "pumping and dumping" a certain stock. If this is done on television, why not an internet blog to protect the consumer?
