Chicago Simeon vs. Morgan Park - erupts in violence & fatal shooting

The problem could be largely solved if convicted felons were given adequate sentences, and if the laws already in place were properly enforced..

This guy who went into a rage and shot up a St. Louis college got off easy several times in the past, was already on parole for a felony conviction, and even had an ACTIVE WARRANT out on him but cops were to busy to go arrest him...
Of interest is that the very people (law enforcement) who bungled this case and so many others like it - are also the very ones now responsible for answering the press' questions about their ineptitude - and guess what...

"St. Louis police didn't respond to several messages requesting an interview.
St. Louis County courts administrator Paul Fox said it's not unusual for fugitives to go for months
or longer without being apprehended.
Police were also investigating how Johnson obtained a gun. ..."

anyone wanna bet we'll never hear an answer...we need Harry Callahan... ;)

These problems didn't develope over night and they won't be solved over night. Until some serious changes are made regarding family and penalities when convicted of such hidious crimes that are occuring,it's only going to get worse. Making more serious gun laws is far from the answer and against our 2nd amendment rights. Guns do not kill people ,people kill people. O'Bama is so far out in left field he can't even see the pitcher. The only part of his plan I can agree with is for more stricter back ground checks when buying a gun and that will not stop someone wanting to do harm to others if they really want too. We need to build more prisons and put these bad guys away for longer sentences instead of letting them back on the streets with just a slap on the hands. It would also provide more jobs if more prisons.

Wily I was with you until the last part. More prisons? We have more prisons and prisoners then any other country. Yes, even more then China. What we need to do is change the prison system and stop putting people away for petty crimes (they can now be monitored and enforce curfews and have them work odd their debts and take drug addicts and mental cases and institutionalize them) and as T said start putting some real time in for those that commit felonies and violent crimes away for some serious time. Let's rehab those that have a chance and put away those that will not and cannot value a human life. As a nation we spend more money on prisons then on our entire educational system.

Instead of putting more people in prison, let's put them to work. There is plenty of trash to be picked up. What percentage of Americans who go to prison were on welfare at the time of their crime? Maybe we could at least make those folks earn what we pay them.

Wizard I agree with you as well 1000%.... I've heard ex-criminals say that you can do what you want with gun control but criminals will always be able to walk down the street and find a gun if they want to. Why take the guns away from law abiding citizens. It will just give the thugs an advantage. Let's face it, guns are part of the American fabric and culture let alone a Constitutional Right! We need to approach this violence differently then what a European country would. To me its simple. If you engage in any felony with a gun you're automatically put in front of a special federal crime unit for swift judgement. Forget about the state/city governments that are to weak or in the pockets of those liberals who cannot get out of their own way on these issues. This is about freedom!

+1

Gary, I totally agree with you on filling our prisons with petty crime people. That was not my point at all. Petty crime people who can be rehabed should not be taking up our prison spaces. We have so much violent crime today that is filling up the prisons. I'm currently in FL.and every night on TV people are killing people and for 3 nights in a row Police have been shot at in the Orlando area. They are complaining about their prisons being overcrowded and we don't want those people out on our streets. It seems a growing segement of our society has no regard for human lives and those people need to be put away for our safety.
