OK....time to do a retrospective on the pick that Collegehoopsnet did last fall.
After all they are about to begin their 2007-2008 Top 144 countdown, and I know we will be following it to see who they pick and where.
I had applauded them because they were one of the few predictions that had BU higher than 8-9th.
(they selected BU at #120 overall and 7th in the MVC)
But how did they do overall in predicting the teams that ended up doing well at the end of the season......I will let you decide.
Here are how they predicted the teams that ended up in the Sweet Sixteen would rank...........
Team................where they picked them to finish
Florida............................................1
Ohio State......................................7
UCLA..............................................6
Georgetown...................................13
North Carolina..................................2
USC..............................................39
Vandy...........................................63
Butler..........................................106
Oregon..........................................56
UNLV.............................................71
Tenn.............................................31
Texas A&M.....................................12
Memphis.........................................21
Kansas............................................3
SIU...............................................19
Pitt.................................................5
So of their choices for the top 16, only EIGHT of them made it to the Sweet Sixteen, and they really missed on teams like Oregon, Vandy, UNLV, and Butler.
I would grade their accuracy as barely more than 50% on selecting to top teams.
