CHN Top 144 Countdown for 2009-2010

or maybe we're ____ well never mind

I was going to say... it's about that time people start questioning if we're even in the top 144!

But based on this guy's MVC placements and past pro-MVC feelings, I think we're fine! 66. First man out of the NCAAs:lol:

what does everyone think about this...

Oakland seems to do this every year...and generally goes for the high dollar guarantee games at top opponents' arenas..

this year Oakland plays at...
Wisconsin
Kansas
Memphis
Michigan State
Oregon
and
Syracuse

so is this a good idea? or is it a guaranteed six big losses?

For them it is great. I'm sure it helps them recruit and they also are not filling up their facility with a lot of fans so it's a good thing for them to go out and look for games where they can make some money for their program. I wish we did a little more of this but not to their extent. I'd imagine that they may catch 1 or 2 of these teams sleeping on them.

Would love if we'd do this for at least 2 games every year... not six though. All you need to be noticed is 1 or 2 wins... but if you do that with 4-5 losses to those teams, I don't know that it helps? But if we'd have a chance each year to win big (and I think we do this year) on the road... great!

wow- this stumps me a little, but just maybe the writer Joel Welser is a guy who finally sees that a couple NIT appearances using OE and a decent supporting cast
won't translate into much more when OE has a mainly unknown supporting cast.

anyone else agree with this-- "The frontcourt gets more help with walk-on transfer Blake Mishler and incoming freshmen Jon Ekey"
and the projected 3-forward (and possibly 4 if OE really is a small forward as Lindy's claims) starting lineup.

We're definitely going to see something oddball here...but I can't believe we will see Evansville, Drake, or MSU in the top three.

here's what the guy has said so far for the Valley

#137 Indiana State - 7th in the Valley
#117 SIU - 6th in the Valley
#94 Wichita State - 5th in the Valley
#76 ISU - 4th in the Valley

So the teams not yet revealed are Evansville, Drake, Missouri State, BU, Creighton, and UNI.

so then his final three will be
#1 UNI, #2 CU, and #3 BU!

also - Iowa State is #77 - 9th in Big 12

It could legitimately be a #3 Drake instead of us. Recall we've been picked #6 in other polls -- #7 is a lot closer to #6 than #3 would be...

who knows, but Drake was 7-11 last year in the Valley and tailed off at the end losing their last four...
they had team chemistry issues, even tho they had two potential All-League guys in Young and Cox.
Now they have lost Cox, Parker has bolted, and their roster has nine new guys...

They did surprise everyone a couple years ago, but I wouldn't expect it again...nobody who does ranking for a living would pick Drake ahead of ISU.

What I wonder is what do the ISU fans think of being picked possibly behind BU?

Here's one direct response to the isu preview....

".....Then we have Austin Hill, Jackie Carmichael, Tony Lewis, Zeke Upshaw and Jon Ekey. These are all guys that every valley team was after bad last year and Illinois St. got them."

"Are you seriously going to rank Bradley better in the valley than Illinois St.? Is it because they finished strong i nthe CIT tournment rolling over teams like Austin Peay, Oakland and Pacific, just so they could get their 20 win season."

I didn't realize Bradley was after all those guys "bad" last year. It's also funny that all three CIT opponents would look GREAT on the isu schedule!

Do you think that they would rank us worse than Indiana State??? time will tell......

Beni, I personally think the Braves will be the surprise team in the Valley this year. But opinions are like noses everybody has one. I read in a magazine the other day that had Bradley as 6th in the Valley, I had to laugh, but as we know injury's can make a big difference. Only time will tell.

I agree with you about BU being a surprise team in the Valley and that is right were I want us. --a little under the radar--- I put a guess on this thread that we would come in at #77 and I thought that I was a little optimistic with my guess for this site.
