CHN Top 144 Countdown for 2009-2010

Let's see...we lost Theron and don't really have a big time senior coming up for us..

we have two ppl coming back from injury but one is unproven and the other hasn't played in what feels like forever

I think we'll go down from last years placement to 116

b4l The only thing missing from your new avatar is the Italian prime minister pinching that girl. Man if I was followed by the paparazzi I'd be busted like that all the time. LOL:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::twisted:

#137 Indiana State

I had a chance to read the review of Indiana State a bit closer....and have a couple more comments...

--the key newcomer freshmen are rated as the lowest incoming freshman class in the Valley by HoopscoopOnline, #263:
http://www.hoopscooponline.com/members/toprecruitingclasses-classof2009.asp

--Jake Kelly is hoping for a waiver to play right away, but those waivers are few and far between.

--the Louisiana Tech transfer Lathan did score 8.2 ppg a couple years ago, but Louisiana Tech faced the 329th weakest schedule that season and Lathan was just a 29% 3-pt shooter, needing 213 shot attempts to score his 245 pts, and in 631 minutes on the floor in 30 games, he had a remarkably low number (14) assists, for an assist to turnover ratio of 14/52.

--the projected starting lineup...
Projected Starting Five:
Harry Marshall, Senior, Guard, 13.6 points per game
Rashad Reed, Senior, Guard, 11.0 points per game
Aaron Carter, Junior, Guard, 7.6 points per game
Carl Richard, Sophomore, Guard, 6.1 points per game
Isiah Martin, Junior, Forward, 4.0 points per game

...constitute four guards and a post player who is barely 6-8 and doesn't score.
They are going to get killled by bigger teams...

In the lull ....

Although I really believe we will better then 5th place I can see most preseason publications picking us there so for that reason I will say we come in @ #96 as NIU, CU, ISU will get a lot of love this year in the top 70 teams and & some can't seem to forget that SIU has been going down hill so will say they are #4 w/ DU getting the #6 spot.

#96 is my pick

I think 5th would be a great spot to be picked. It's nice to fly under the radar. If we end up finishing higher, then we have "overachieved". I believe something would have to go terribly wrong (either injury or chemistry) for us to finish lower than 5th. UNI would have to be the clear cut choice to win the Valley, and I agree that CU, ISU, and SIU will probably be picked ahead.

I'm trying to take off my rose colored glasses for BU and I see no reason why any school besides UNI would be a consensus pick over us. Am I missing something? We lose TW and a center that we all complained about but we have players that can make up for them plus AW coming back and every other starter or role player a year older. This BU team will be better then last year's team and I do not see ISU improving, SIU was sub-par last year, CU will be good but they are lacking some bigs and are beatable. The only reason I'd pick BU 5th is due to the question marks of a healthy AW and WE.

No, no SFP! Those ARE rose colored glasses you're wearing; I've got the same pair

Bradley WILL finish Top-3 in the MVC! Book it!

SFP, agree 100%. The people that do the polls do not know what most of us here know. We've got two good players coming back from injury, we would have maybe won 24-26 games last year with them and we have a very good freshman class, so that's like adding 6 new players to a good group. We are a very deep team. I'm looking forward to an exciting season, I just hope we get off to a good start. I want to see us play Illinois and win. I see us finishing in first place and going back to the S16 or more:)

I hope you're right about all of the above, but especially what I've bolded. I made reservations for the end of March in Vegas a couple weeks ago without realizing at the time that it's S16 weekend.....would love to be watching BU in Vegas!

I completely agree about BU, we lost a very good player in Wilson and a tall center without awhole lot of production. We have a very experienced back court, Warren when healthy is equal to any other player in the conference, we return a decent amount of experience and talent in Roberts, Dunson and Brown. None of this is considering a 6th year from Singh a healthy Egolf or any freshman.

I understand UNI but even them we were playing any defense and a silly intentinal foul away from possibly sweeping them, we should have swept ISU last year, if we do anything at all in the first half at SIU we sweep them, I admit we struggle with CU but I just do not see where this Bradley team can be looked at as a possible play in team. Something like 7th will only happen if injuries destroy this team, but even then JL has found a way to win games.

Every single Valley game is a struggle and battle but I think our athletes, our experience and our basketball abilities are better then every team in this conference other then UNI and CU. And that is because UNI is reigning champs beat us 3 times and CU bet us 2 times everyone else we are better then.

man this board sounds like a broken record sometimes..."BU WILL end up in the final 3 this year....BOOK IT" hahaha

don't get me wrong I think we've had the potential and the skill to be better than 4th every year since the sweet 16 but something has always happened to make that not a reality...

no more booking it and lets see what happens now...

You know I like the confidence and knowing we will be successful. If most of us didnt feel that way or believe it, then I guess we would be a bunch of Indiana State or Evansville fans and simply either not care or have quit and given up.

If we dont believe in our team, then I am certain no one else is going to believe in this team.

And not to make excuses but yes every year something has happened but that something has been an injury or more to key members of the team. If that can be avoided there is absolutely no reason to not think this current team is not capable of a high finish within the Valley.
