According to JucoJunction.com, Chris Lowery has gotten a committment from Vincennes Junior College wing forward John Freeman. Freeman is originally from Indianapolis, and is a sophomore at Vincennes. He was a teammate of Dodie Dunson there last year.

Head coach David Ragland at Vincennes University is a first-year head coach. The Blazers recently had one of their sophomores make a decision on his future according to coach Ragland.
John Freeman, (SO) 6-foot-5 (200) from Indianapolis, IN, will take an official visit to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale this weekend. Freeman will only need one visit and will be a future Saluki according to coach Ragland.

"John is a combo forward, more of a 4/3 type player, that has a great body," said JucoJunction staff analyst Bret Swanson.

Freeman is currently averaging 13.9 ppg and 6.1 rebounds this season for the (20-8 ) Blazers. John is shooting 57.2% (147-257) from the floor. Freeman has scored 667 points in 62 career games at Vincennes.

A previous article from January 5, 2009 on Freeman mentioned he was followed this season by Indiana State, Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois and IP-Fort Wayne.
He played high school ball at Arlington HS in Indianapolis, and originally committed to IUPUI out of high school, but never went there, and instead enrolled at Vincennes.

There have been rumors of Freeman committing for a few weeks,

He is 6-5 and had gotten interest from EIU, but also WIU, IPFW, IUPUI, UWGB and Indiana State according to one other source.

Is this the big time JUCO recruit SIU fans are clamoring for on their message board??? I don't think so, if the likes of EIU and Chattanooga are any indication!

I think Lowery is also recruiting a teammate of this kid's at Vincennes-
DeAntre Jefferson, a 6'8" 230 big body kid who is originally from Bloomington,IL.

is 6-5 and 200 lbs still considered a bit slender, especially when I am reading he is a potential "4" (power forward)?

Recall that Anthony Thompson is 211 lbs and is bone thin still and
and Bill Cole is 215 lbs and as thin as a rail.

Theron Wilson is 6-5 and 200, and sure couldn't "bang in the post" ...

Apparently, he just signed, but it's also being reported on SIU's website that they still have a scholarship available. I didn't realize that.
