Chris Lowery mentioned for New Mexico job

I remember hearing something about Lowery asking Weber what he thought about Lowery taking a new coaching job if it is offerred... Weber said something to the effect of ... no, but if you are going to jump, make sure it is in the MidWest where you have your ties and know your recruiting.

Not only would taking the New Mexico job be a major step down, it would possibly be the dumbest decision Lowery could possibly make at this point in his career.

Unless they offered him 1.5 a year, he'd be a moron to even talk to the New Mexico people.

Really, Why would he even consider such a downgrade? Even paying him alot.. New Mexico would be such a change and Webers right, how would he recruit?

He could just do what the last coach did, and call other schools' star players and convince them to transfer.

It still is and will be a top job, and all they need to do is look for some GOOD young, enthusiastic guy to be their coach.
Nevada, New Mexico State, UNLV, Gonzaga, and now even Bradley have all turned their programs in the right direction, s o surely UNM can too.
They used to be one of the top 6-8 drawing programs in the nation. Also, look what Washington State did even without a lot of top rated talent.

Larry had just started to do a decent job rebuilding Southern Miss.
I think if New Mexico hires anyone, it'll have to be someone with impeccabble pedigree, and the blot on Eustachy's resume might keep him off the short list.

Anyone wonder why JL isn't on their short list? LOL

He is one of the hottest coaching candidates out ther ya know!

Maybe Albuquerque is closer to home for Lowery than Carbondale.

Maybe he has hypoglycemia? I have heard they know how to treat people with hypoglycemia in Albuquerque. 8)

Rick Majerus apparently is lobbying to be considered for the New Mexico job.

Wow there's a great extra comment at the end of that story...

New Mexico's leading scorer, JR Giddens, a transfer from Kansas, and a McDonalds All American who coach Ritchie McKay called a sure lottery pick before the season, was left OFF the nominations that McKay submitted for All Conference honors and considerations.
Giddens is #7 in the conference in scoring, #5 in rebounding,

After the press made an issue of it, McKay then added Giddens' name, but could this just be McKay's way of getting back at Giddens, whose antics have almost surely disrupted the team so badly that it was the thing that cost McKay his job?
