CLo Outcoached?

Carlton appeared to get a cramp in his right calf when jumping for a first half rebound. He was never the same after that and was limping after he was taken out of the game. I hope he's OK.

That also was some sketchy reffing on that one, I thought. Fay came up with a cramp, and an injury timeout was called, but Fay stayed in the game and SIU wasn't charged a TO.

I also agree that Coach Les and staff did a GREAT job of preparing for this game and the players executed very well. It really seemed as though we got away from the weave offense and ran a much more conventional offense -- I like that. I think the weave offense has been effective in the past when we had better shooters and more experienced players, but this team seems to be more effective in a traditional "drive and dish" offense.

Good win today Braves! :)

First of all, what defense were we playing when Edge went basically under the hoop? It seemed like we played some of our best defense in that set. Edge looked like he was always there to cut off any backdoor attempts and even mixed it up with the big guys, often getting in better position than them for rebounds. He seemed very disruptive at times.

I thought that the officials missed a few calls both ways. I think it was Theron got pushed a few times on rebound attempts that they missed. I also think Roberts got smacked on a lay up attempt and there was no call. One bad call that went for the Braves was in the 2nd half when I believe Edge went up for a lay up, defender got all ball and the trailing ref made the call mid-sprint.

Maybe that mask gave Sam some tunnel vision. Keep the blinders on!

Looks to me like CLo might have someone else (MoSt) in the conference running his defensive mindset a little better at this point. That was one of the worst shooting performances I think I have seen out of a team. The SIU fans at the game were yelling at him during our free throws in the last 8 minutes.

I believe the defence when Edge was under the hoop was a 1-3-1. It was one of a couple good coaching changes in this game as SM in earlier games was the guy under the hoop. Much better with Edge, as this kid can jump and go after the ball:!:

A whole lot of people were dead wrong about this game and dead wrong about Bradley (just go back and look at the predictions thread), but I am happy they were.

It was a good game, but it's one game.

Let's not go overboard. Just like the so-called "negnels" shouldn't get crazy after a loss, we shouldn't get big heads after a win.

I agree B4L, and I thought putting CR in there along with the good job our bigs did was the key to the win;-)

bad calls are bad calls....but all the travelling calls on SIU were legit.
Gimme an example of a bad call on SIU?
tornado, you need to get off this bad call bad call talk. It was a great win why don't you expound on that more and worry less about a few calls. Heres a news flash for you. There never has been a perfect game called and there never will be. So whats the big deal, let it go. We all know SIU is a bunch of thugs and we should be glad the game was called like it was. The officials called the muggings end of story. Great win Braves now on to Shocker land for a road win.

I havn't seen it posted yet but what was up with SIU leaving the timeout huddle a good 15-20 seconds before BU? They did this on almost every timeout. Was Lowery out of words to say or what? LOL

you are right T. All the bad calls went against BU at home....I'm not going to get into a nitpick. There were travels missed on both teams IMO. The reffing wasn't one sided....one example DC almost knocked a guy out of bounds on a rebound and there was no call

I cannot recall anyone saying the reffing was one sided...can you show me where someone said that?
I cited a few examples of some of the bad reffing, and you are free to cite your own...

T you say things that insinuate better than anyone on the board.....and I'm no match for you so I'm out of this thread

... but then SIU plays with their hands on you all the time.

I think they play with 1 hand on a player most of the time. Once you put 2 on a player - "beep", foul. Somewhere in the rules book, I think I read it is legal. (especially if you are a Saluki) :-P:lol:

This clearly means he was outcoached...

So were we outcoached against UMKC, or did we just have a pathetic game?

That aside, I think Jim always does a wonderful job of coaching, but sometimes this season the players have not performed what he puts in place. We look awful at times and some on here say it is bad coaching, but it has more to do with the players executing what they are supposed to do in my opinion, and they did that almost to perfection today.

SIU is a good team and we beat them

Obviously, you and I have vastly different definitions of a "good team." I had SIU 8th in last week's MVC power rankings and will keep them there this week...still ahead of both UNI and Indiana State. Considering I think the MVC is way down this year and I had SIU 8th, I did not think they were anywhere near a "good" team. Had we lost to them at home, I would have definitely considered us a "bad" team.

I am sure he would love to take the opponents' sides, but he doesn't need to, there seem to be plenty of BU fans who do that. Note that only mrcoachdude picked BU to win the game.

kind of DC.....I actually said if BU scores over 70 we would win....

?? I think all but one on the Predictions thread picked Bradley. Some were conditional, depending on FTs and turnovers, but almost everyone said we will win.
