Hopkins was the head coach in waiting at Syracuse and Jim Boeheim had set a date to retire. A couple of years later Boeheim decided he wasn't ready to retire and Hopkins decided not to wait any longer and got the Washington Job.

I don't know the source of the tweet, where the author got this information, but Kowalczyk would be a nice "get" for SIU. Toledo won the MAC on the last day of the season. Their tournament starts Friday. Now, the question is: Would Toledo let Kowalczyk go or give him an incentive to stay?
As for the others on this list, Smithpeters is an SIU alum, Gipson and Preston both built their programs fairly quickly, don't know any details about these three, don't know anything about the other names mentioned.

Based on his connections, it wouldn't be a terrible idea.
For the record, that twitter account has been wrong on coaching hires as often as they have been right.
In the tweet, even they say "Not sure we believe it.".

Story doing the rounds is his wife wants out of Norman.
There are also a lot of the big money boosters at Oklahoma who are tired of mediocre results, and the fact it doesn't look like things will be getting better any time soon.
Here are the Big 12 conference records for Oklahoma since Porter Moser got there-
2021-22- 7-11
2022-23- 5-13
2023-24- 8-10
They haven't made the NCAA Tournament in his 3 seasons, and the prospects for next year aren't any better. The last time any Oklahoma coach went 3 seasons without an NCAA appearance was Dave Bliss' first 3 years back in the mid-1970's.
On the other hand, Moser is under contract through 2027-28 at $2.8 million per year. Even if he doesn't win, or gets fired, he'll get paid much more at OU than he could ever get at DePaul.
