Cole-Scott leaves BU

Though the guard spots will have more competetion next year, I know the coaches liked TCS and were OK with him staying for his senior season as long as he accepted that he had to work harder for playing time.
But maybe this is better for him, to find somewhere he can play more.
Ty is a great kid, and everyone liked him.
I wish him the best of luck.

Seems best for everyone that TCS went his own way.

Good luck to TCS in whatever he does.

Do we go ahead and fill his spot with someone new? Or, if Thornton stays, does he get the ride for the one season?

i really liked cole-scott but i think we can work this to our advantage for the 09-10 season. maybe get a juco big who can seriously contribute as a senior when we lose all our other senior bigs.

Makes a little more sense that we were going guard-crazy. Somebody knew what was happening...

Good luck, TCS, whatever it is you're going to be going.

And that brings some excitement back to the recruiting front :D

I was wondering when this was going to become official. TCS is a nice kid but I just don't think he was ready for Div. I. Hopefully he finds somewhere he can be successful for his senior season.

As for the scholarship, I don't really expect them to bring anyone else in, but I wouldn't rule it out either. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Why not? With an unproven inside game, I'd have to think that another guy wouldn't hurt anything. There's already going to be a bunch of scholarship to give the following year, so banking one doesn't help much.

Best of luck to TCS-sorry it did not work out at BU.

I do hope we can use this for a 2008 recruit.

Another disturbing point-we were "scooped" on a BU story by DUBulldog (no disrespect really DUBulldog). Geez.

maybe...but it doesn't add up...

If JL knew TCS was leaving before this, then why had he stopped nearly 100% of the recruiting efforts, and why had he not signed another player like ISU did when they knew one of their scholarships was opening up.

If TCS knew before this that he was leaving, then he would have needed JL's help to get it known and find another program, and clearly that was and is NOT the case prior to now.

I think this is a new decision and different than what was both JL's and TCS' plan even a couple weeks ago.

I always thought this was a possibility. I just hoped we knew about it and had recruited to use the scholarship this year. I am not sure if that is the case though. All the players that I would know of by name are extreme long shots. Mike Burwell,Brandon Hawkins,Isiah Nunn. I am hoping someone has been promised this scholarship and is waiting for it. Another possibility is someone who is not supposed to qualify gets the grades and BU has an available scholarship. Or maybe a transfer, but that would not help for this year and the only way we are helped at all by Cole-Scott leaving is if we use the scholarship this year (he would be done next year anyway).

PS I was always really impressed by the fact that Cole-Scott was cheerful and seemed to be rooting for the team even when he wasn't playing at the end of the season. It frustrated me that he could never really break out when we needed his help. However he seemed like a good guy and I hope he gets to play at some level and enjoy himself.
