Conference USA about to burst another bubble!

With 41 seconds left, Houston is about to upset #25 and #1 seeded UTEP. Houston is up 78-72, and a Houston win will burst another bubble team's hopes. It will be interesting to see which teams get left out, but it's looking more like 4 teams from the MWC will be dancing.

If things go per plan as of now, we should see 4 teams from the MWC, 3 from the A-10, and 2 from the WCC and CUSA. This would amount to 7 at-large teams from non-BCS conferences, which would be an improvement over the pathetic 4 from last year.

None from the MVC, but that's our problem that we need to deal with for next year. :)

Yep just posted it in the Illinois Wisconsin thread, Illinois is still last 4 in, with another bid stolen, and potentially more still out there. If Illinois losses today, especially with a Minnesota win, it could get very close for them.

And yet another team dispels the "it's tough to win 4 games in 4 days" myth. It's only tough because the teams that have to play 4 games in 4 days are typically inferior teams compared to the ones that only have to win 3 games. Houston's semifinal win ended after 7:30 last evening, and just 15 hours later, they were back on the court. They played their best ball today in the final 10 minutes of their 4th game in 4 days.

Houston is an interesting team...a team that definitely plays to their level of competition. They had a great deal of success this season against the better teams on their schedule, but struggled against lesser teams and had quite a few inexplicaple losses...especially considering the quality of some of their wins. It will be interesting to see how they do as a 13-14 seed...they could definitely scare a 3-4 seed somewhere.

UTEP lost for the first time in 2 months...to the same team that last beat them. UTEP is scary good, and with the right draw, could easily make a Sweet 16 run. Losing today may actually help their cause, as chances are they would have been an underseeded 8 or 9 with a win today. Now they may be an underseeded 10 or 11, which would actually make it easier to make a run. We don't want to see them matched up against UNI right away, but it is a definite possibility. I definitely like UTEP if that matchup does take place.
