Conspiracy against the MVC?????

I am normally not into conspiracy stuff, but what I watched today during the Creighton and SIU games was really obvious. During the Creighton game they rarely mentioned the MVC and when they stated that Creighton was from the MVC it was usually when the other team went on a run. At the end of the game when it was obvious Creighton had lost they made it a point to state that Creighton was the Champs of the MVC and had now been eliminated. Did anyone notice this?

I just finished watching the entire second half of the SIU game (I missed some of the 1st half) and I never heard the commentators mention the MVC once. It was as if SIU was an independent! Last year the announcers talked up the MVC as a very good league, but this year I have heard nothing. It is as if there were instructions to play down the MVC. I might watch it over to see if I missed any mention. Did anyone else notice what I consider the obvious playing down of the MVC or am I just nuts? :?

They mentioned that one or two of the SIU players were Valley players of the year, or something of that sort, but I'd have to watch it again to see if I missed anything.

I don't know if the lack of mention was part of a conspiracy or not, but I do know that there seems to be a general disdain toward the non-BCS conferences IF they make too much of an impact on the BCS "kingdom". Maybe it's my imagination, but at least it sure seems that way this year.

One or two non-BCS teams making a deep run in the tourney, they could probably handle that. But not two or more out of the same conference! No never in their right mind! :roll:

BCS conferences don't like us because we're trying to be like them. They think that we don't know our place.

Other non-BCS conferences don't like the Valley because we get all of the mid-major publicity. They think that we think we're better than them.

We're the middle-class of college basketball....

And it's odd how Nevada, ranked 10th in the nation, was given a 7-seed to play Creighton. Just luck-of-the-draw for the Bluejays, I'm sure :roll:

Yes, how odd they had most mid-majors playing against each other in the first round to make sure half gets eliminated right away.

Lets look at it:

Neveada plays Creighton hmmm
BYU plays Xavier hmmm
Butler plays Old Dominion hmmm
SIU vs. Holy Cross

When they did match up a mid-major to a BSC, the Mid-Majors won

VCU over Duke
Winthrop over N.D
(I'm sure they will make sure this won't happen next year)

Then the other Mid-Majors who played BSC all were 14-15 or 16 seeds.

Wright State vs Pitt
Davidson against Maryland (almost pulled it out)
Miami Ohio vs Oregon (almost pulled it out)

Well they have a year to figure out how to make the non BCS teams less likely to win again.

After thinking about it, what the Selection Committee needs to do is give the Mid-Majors more high seeds. If they would have given Winthrop say a 5 or 6 seed like a true top 25 team they are then they could have had VCU play Winthrop...one less mid-major to the second round.

Then they could play Wintrop vs. SIU in the sceond round.

With this they can make sure 4 non BCS teams cannot reach the sweet 16 again.

Sorry to be thinking this way but I'm trying to think how the Committee is going to stop having the Mid-Majors win in the tournament.

i hope that all the rest of the surviving mid-majors win games! i wanna show the commitee that the mid-majors are strong. this is our year to really prove ourselves. that includes you guys in winning the NIT!!!!!!!!

That's the problem, the Committee knows the mid majors are strong, they just don't want them to advance. They want the big known BCS schools to win not the little known mid-majors. The money is with the BCS schools and they want them to advance, they know the mid majors can go a long way in tournaments and they want to avoid it.
