Crowd Support

I am just watching the Georgia Tech vs. Kansas game and wanted to mention a little something.

Kansas, as most of you know is ranked #3 in the country, playing on the road versus GT. The crowd is seemingly silent. There are on chants, no student cheers, and no ROAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARS from a "superfan".

I know sometimes people harp about the crowd at BU games. But from just watching this game and seeing others, we should be quite proud in the backing our team has. We have a great cheerleading squad, a great student section that has a grown so much since I first went to Bradley 4+ years ago.

We dont support a large Big-10 university, we support a university that is small, diverse, and of all ages which is something truly remarkable.

For god sakes we had the 9th ranked team come to our house and the most of the crowd was on their feet the whole game!

GT also had a lot of fans disguised as seats (as did #4 Texas, for that matter). That is actually fairly typical of big state schools over break (everyone leaves). They don't get much community support like small private schools that do extensive marketing to the local community to fill their big arenas (e.g. Wake Forest).

Speaking of which...can anyone tell me the likelihood of me being able to purchase tickets at the door for the Bradley-Butler game? I will be in the Indianapolis area and it is 50-50 that I will be able to make it to the game. Thus, I don't want to buy tickets in advance. I also won't be early. If I make it...I will likely be 15 minutes late. Is it worth stopping by Hinkle to support the Braves?

Yeah GA Tech is near downtown ATL which like Houston, has 3 major pro teams for everyone to keep occupied with. Bradley basketball is Peorias sport with the Riverman a close 2nd.

You will have NO problems. Amazingly Butler draws very modest crowds. You will be able to pick your seat.

Hey Guys!

Thanks for your quick replies. I am leaving in the morning and will be gone and away from the computer all day. The ONLY time I have been at Hinkle was for an IU game (I think) there years ago. I got in the door, but there was very little room (in what I think I remember as being bleachers at the time).

Have a great time. And wear red under a blue coat - might get ya a better seat. ;)

Last night, since nothing else was on TV, I watched the end of the classic 1990 (9)LSU (With a much younger Shaq), at Illiniois. 3 things stood out to me about that game.
One was how dead the croud looked. Very little standing. I believe the Illini just came off of a final 4 year and this was a top 10 team in the house. There was no "Orange Crush" jumping around the floor then...
The other 2 things were the total score (Illini won 102-96. BW would never have a team shooting that quickly) and Shaq made most of his FT's, despite the Illini playing an early hack-a-shaq...
