I just heard that Da'Monte Williams, 2017 6'3" guard from Peoria Manual HS will be making an unofficial visit to the Bradley campus at the invitation of Bradley Head Coach Brian Wardle. Expect him to receive a scholarship offer.

He was offered by Geno Ford back in August, 2013.

Here are some highlights ...

"Williams blowing up this spring

It's been a superb spring thus far for Da'Monte Williams. The 2017 point
guard from Peoria (Ill.) Manual has shined running with the 16U Mac Irvin
Fire, elevating his play and earning a scholarship offer from Illinois.

2017 PG Da'Monte Williams picked up an Illini offer.
Williams (6-foot-2) has matured physically, and a new focus on using his
strength and quickness to get in the lane has allowed him to take his game
to a new level. He has turned heads playing in Nike's Elite Youth Basketball League.

"My game has come a long way," Williams said. "I used to settle for 3's and
not attack the rim. Once I saw how dominate I was attacking, I just kept
doing it. It's going really well for my first time playing in the EYBL."

One of seven in-state juniors-to-be who hold an offer from the Illini,
Williams is positioning himself for a future top 100 ranking nationally. The
Illini also recently offered Williams' teammate on the Fire, 2017 forward
Christian Negron from Elgin (Ill.) Larkin.

As fans are well aware of by now, Williams is the son of Manual legend
Frank Williams who went on to earn All-American honors at Illinois and was
elected to the Illinois Basketball All-Century Team in 2004.

The family connection to the program gave the offer from Illinoi a special
meaning, according to the younger Williams.

"It's pretty cool getting offered by a school that you're father went to, and
everything that he accomplished there," Williams said. "It feels great to have
the home-state school offer me a scholarship, and give me an opportunity to represent Illinois."

Illinois-Chicago has also offered Williams, and he has received
interest from
Kansas, West Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Bradley
, and others.

A plus athlete with excellent handles, Williams excels in transition. He can
also stop on a dime and knock down jumpers. Look for him to land more
offers in the months ahead.

Williams said he is no hurry to make a commitment. He does want to make
it to the Illinois campus for an unofficial visit sometime this summer, though
a specific date hasn't been set yet.

"I would love to get down there on the campus and see how things run, and
their system," Williams said.

The Mac Irvin Fire are back in action this weekend, as the EYBL teams gather
in Houston (Texas) for Session 3 at the MI3 Center."

If anyone knows more about Da'Monte, please post. There was this update Saturday from Jim Mattson about his knee injury that he suffered Friday night-

Peoria Manual's Da'Monte Williams has ice on left knee again today and will see trainer on Monday when swelling is down. Hoping for the best

Here is a page that shows Manual's schedule and results. I can't vouch for their accuracy. Their other loss was to Springfield Lanphier in the Thanksgiving Tournament. You can bookmark this site to keep up with future scores.

A.J. Youngman had a surgical procedure on his back over the summer, and is not ready to return to playing. I have heard he will probably not play this season. There were reports that he contacted at least one other school and considered transferring from Manual over the summer. He missed the first 3 weeks of school, reportedly because of the surgery, but last I heard, he was returning to Manual to finish his senior season.

Any update on the injury ? Cant count on the PJS for anything --- and what happened to Youngman ? -- someone said he is out for the season --- it would be nice if you could post the Manual scores since the PJS never bothers anymore --- who was the other loss to besides Bloomington ?
AJ had back surgery in Chicago a little over a week ago maybe closer to two weeks and is making great progress. Hopefully he'll be able to play this season

I thought someone reported he had back surgery earlier this past summer - did he have a 2nd surgery or was this the only one?

We should only discuss medical information that has been made public.

We hope A.J. recovers fully and has a great college career.
