With 29 big points last night at UNI, Darrel Brown is only 8 short of Sammy M. with 1,199 career points as a Bradley Brave.
DB should be in the neighborhood of All-time points by Braves recent greats D. Ruffin (#22) and J. Crouch (#21).

Barring injury or a meltdown his senior season, Brown is on pace to eclipse Walt Lemon's (#7) mark of 1,721 career Brave points, and may have a shot at Brave Great Joe Allen (#6).

And hate to admit, but I have no clue who Joe Allen is! I was born in the mid-70's and Hersey Hawkins is the oldest memory I have of Braves legends...though I had heard of Mitchell Anderson over the years.
 
Good points - DB now has 1199 career points - and likely will play 40 more games before he ends his career (and I hope a lot more, meaning post-season games). If he continues to average 13-15 ppg, he'd finish in the 1,700-1,800 pt range - which, as you noted, would put him inside the Top 10 and close to the Top 5 in Bradley career scoring.


-- and --Joe Allen was one of the nicest men you'd ever want to meet. He was a 6-6 center from Chicago Carver HS that went under-recruited because
schools thought he was too short and too immobile to play center. On top of that, he tore up his left knee and in those days they simply could not
repair a torn ACL, so he chose to play with a massive knee brace that virtually prevented him from bending his knee...and which would have completely
prohibited most players from even competing.

Despite all that, his smarts, his skills, his ability to maneuver and get decent shots and make them and his determination made him one of the best
big men in the nation in his era. And he didn't play against patsies - Joe Allen regularly played head to head against guys like Wes Unseld & other
NBA-caliber big men ...and he even faced Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul Jabbar) and Elvin Hayes and torched them for 25-30 points. LINK
Add to that, he only played 3 years to gain his scoring totals as they did not allow freshmen to play back then, and never benefited from 3-pt FGs.

Are you referring to Bradleyfans? It is easy to add attached images to any post. It anyone needs help, let me know.
In the box you type your message, click on the large capital A on the right, and a bunch of editing shortcuts will appear.
Click on the one that looks like a small graphic of a couple mountain peaks, and it will open a box that will allow the poster to add an image from the internet, or click the Upload tab to add an image from your own computer. You can even go back at any time and adjust the size of the image or add or remove images or edit text by clicking the edit button at the bottom of the message after posting. Only the poster himself (and the moderators) can edit posts.
You can also post a video by clicking the icon just to the right of the image icon (hold your cursor over any of the icons for an explanation of what they are for).
 
Little Brave....Tornado is correct. Joe Allen was a great guy and a super basketball player. His field goal percentage was 65% which led the nation. Joe could not jump well because of his knee injury but he positioned his wide body for great rebounding. He had great hands...Maybe the best I have ever seen at Bradley.Also. he was very strong and really worked hard in the gym all year around. His moves around the basket were unbelievable. His play against Wes Unseld and Jabbar were classic.

I could be wrong with this but I think I heard Joe Allen was the only college basketball player to out score Kareem in a collegiate game.. If I’m wrong feel free to set the record straight...

DC - that is not right. You are unable to upload/attach an image from your computer - must have a URL.
Here is the message when trying to upload: "You are not authorized to create or remove attachments."

Maybe it has to be a Jpeg or bitmap? I only have PNG.

Thanks for that information. The permissions for the moderators are different than they are for the user. That is necessary so a malicious user cannot alter or delete content, or upload harmful software to the server. The old board didn't allow general users to upload photos (except avatars) directly from their own computer files, for that reason.
However, because of improvements, the new board does allow uploading pictures and attachments by general users, which is one of its advantages. I was assuming you and other users had that permission, but when you described something different than what I was seeing, I checked and found that the default settings were set to only allow the moderators to do it.

So I have found the section in the administration control panel where those permissions can be changed or set, and you (and other registered users) now should now be able to upload pictures both from the internet and from your own files. When you open the box to upload an image, there should now be a tab that says Upload. Click that tab, and now you and all registered users will be able to select an image from your computer files to upload. I am not a computer or software expert, so despite all the hours I have been working on this, I am still learning all the differences with this new software and all its new features. I still haven't scratched the surface, so let me know if this doesn't work, or if there is anything else that annoys users.

Dave Snell might know - but there's an extreme lack of any film from the early 60's - and nobody has ever uncovered film of Chet Walker in a Bradley jersey...
..but several years ago I bought a few rolls of 8mm Bradley game-film at a garage sale by the wife of former Bradley broadcaster Ken Brown..
I had no way of viewing the film so I asked Dave Snell if he wanted it and dropped it off for him.
He used some of the clips in his pre-season and post-season presentations for a few years - but then those events were terminated by Glasser/Cross and have never been resumed (except for this one - LINK)
He told me the film contained action from games in the early and mid-60's but I have since never heard about those films again - nor do I know where they are now
 
You should have a VHS tape with those films on it. Short clips from them were used in the DVD that accompanied the Victory, Honor, and Glory book that was published in 2007 chronicling the history of Bradley basketball.

Darrell Brown's 21 points against Loyola now gives him 398 points for the season, and 1,246 for his career. That moves him past Bobby Joe Mason into 28th place on the Bradley all-time scoring list just 2 points behind #27 Curtis Stucky (1,248 points), 6 points behind #26 Luke Jackson (1,252), 9 points behind #25 Dyricus Simms-Edwards (1,255), 15 points behind #24 David Thirdkill (1,261), and 16 points behind #23 Bobby Humbles (1,262).

If DB continues at his current scoring pace (~15 ppg), he would finish his junior season with about 500 or more points and around #20 on the all-time list. And if he stays healthy and has a senior season with about the same 15 ppg average, that would add another 500+ points to his career total, and he could finish his career as high as #5 all time!
 
It would really be something to see DB crash the Top 5 on the All-time scoring list. It could happen...so you best be watchin'!
My prediction is he'll finish #6, ahead of Joe Allen. But I'd love to see Top 5.
 
Darrell Brown had a very good game overall last night at ISU with 13 points, 2 of 3 from three, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and only 1 turnover in 38 minutes.
His 13 points boosts his season total to 411 points and his career point total to 1,259.
That moves him past Curtis Stucky (1,248 points), Luke Jackson (1,252), and Dyricus Simms-Edwards (1,255) and into the 25th spot on the all time career scoring list.

He is now 2 points behind #24 David Thirdkill (1,261), 3 points behind #23 Bobby Humbles (1,262), 21 points behind #22 Daniel Ruffin (1,280), and 47 points behind #21 Jeremy Crouch (1,306)..

DB is still on pace to move to about #20 by the end of his junior season, and if he continues his current scoring average, he would finish his career at #6 on the list, and possibly as high as #5, Pretty impressive, since the top 6 all have their numbers retired, and the top 4 all had long, successful pro careers.

Just about everyone on the team "has a shot" but scoring-wise DB, Jr. could get into the Top 5 if he keeps getting 15 or more...
I think it has both objective and subjective components....
everyone whose name is on one of the banners not only scored but helped lead us to post-season glory and national recognition
