Dave Reynolds' article 5/8/14

but unlike if he were a 95 mph pitcher - being a lefty is not a clear advantage as seems to be hinted in that article..
James Harden is widely viewed as the best left handed player currently in the NBA but he's terribly one dimensional and his lack of defense hurts his team.

of the dozen or so people who have decent "Mock Drafts" or who are considered legitimate - not one even has a mention of WL, Jr. even as a possibility ..
so he'd have to hope to catch on with a few workouts if he can arrange some...even Jeremy Crouch, Zach Andrews, Chris Roberts all got workouts with NBA teams..

Just another article where Reynolds could take a shot at JL. When there is nothing else to do rip into JL again. We would have been a lot better off without Walt. As for his chances of playing pro ball, anywhere, good luck.

it is no secret that extremely poor "chemistry" existed between Walt, Taylor Brown, and Dyricus - all of whom felt that certain "promises" were made and not kept......and that the others were "touching" the ball a bit too much - and this chemistry issue led to an awful lot of terrible play & blowout losses the first couple years of the GF era despite the substantial individual talent on the floor.
Blame who you want - players, coaches, etc.... - but some of that chemistry problem still existed even this year and was called "lack of leadership" time and time again.... Blaming the players you have on the floor won't work again this year - or at least I hope the media won't fall for it again hook, line, and sinker...

BTW when the team went to the Bahamas - Walt would have been required to have and present a passport.
His passport would have required him presenting a certified copy of his birth certificate in order to obtain - this would have had to show his true age.
Odd if our staff still did not know about his age....

It doesn't make one difference if he would have stayed or transferred. We have moved on and hopefully will be much better in the future.

I do wish him well but I think for Bradley this may be a case of addition by subtraction. I am hoping for more continuity of the offense. Players may have been standing around a little too much waiting for Walt to do his thing.

I am of the belief that it is the players' fault probably 90% of the time.

really -- isn't someone responsible for the players being here...certainly by now when almost all of them are GF's?
...not to turn this into a JL thread but....
Kirk Wessler held Jim Les accountable for the bad team chemistry before his 2nd year of coaching when he still had multiple players who were holdover players..
He stated that Les' inability to get them playing together caused him to "sour on JL" and he began "beating the drum to get him fired".

Personally I don't look to place blame, but I get a kick out of where the blame gets placed by some and how inconsistent and hypocritical it appears.

I agree with you but I also place blame on Geno for allowing Walt to keep doing that. After all who is the coach

You can lead a horse to water....

I've been very consistent. In BU's case, regardless of coach, I believe it is the players, their work ethic, effort, and trust in the system who ultimately decide which way the program has gone. Mutinies get you nowhere.

I was a JL defender and I am a GF defender. They both know what they are doing.

Several years ago I lived in Chicago for awhile when DePaul was having great success. A very reliable source told me that during a close important game Ray Meyer called a timeout. He drew up a play for them to run when they got back out onto the court. However, when the players got out there Mark Aquirre called the players together and made up his own play to run. Well it did not work. Ray Meyer was so p.o.'d he almost kicked his star player off the team

I think this talk of NBA is a bit optimistic....if not downright unrealistic whether he's 22 or18 or 23 years old...but I like his desire so go for it!

and his comments about "I wouldn't have stayed at Bradley" almost surely hint he'd have followed Coach Les.
And I am also confused - the column seems to be saying the square on the backboard behind the rim extends to a height of 12 feet off the ground.

T ,I'm really confused, I've scoured your posts on this subject and I can not find where you answered my post as to how you came up with the FACT that WL would have followed JL to UCD. Not sure why you would subject yourself to that comment when no one else on this board got that from DR's story. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, just waiting for your reasoning. The good thing is I'm a patient man.

wily - let me say it once again....as I did answer your question, perhaps you did not see it or you ignored it..

#1 - there was and still is talk by people who were there and who know that Walt was NOT 100% sure he wanted to stay & play for GF - other people even posted about it here...

I've heard from numerous people and even on this board that Lemon is looking into his options.

...and that at that time he was considering going elsewhere...and that as of May 5, 2011 the primary option had he left was UCD (see #2)
If he says otherwise now, then fine but that is not what I heard from several sources back in 2011.

#2 - if Walt was considering leaving as he now claims, then here's where I already answered you, and I asked you a question as well that you have not answered

...the rumors he was thinking of leaving after JL was fired...
...and where would he have gone?? At that time - Walt was an obscure freshman on a poor team averaging just 6 ppg and a horrible A/T Ratio.
Not likely a lot of schools would come calling.....
http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread.php?p=295484#post295484

...remember - when Walt came to Bradley - he was a fine prospect, but he was virtually unknown, not being recruited much by anyone, had virtually zero other offers or options, had been absent from the AAU circuit and was not on any other recruiters' short list, and on top of that, he and his high school coach, AAU coach, and mentor (Loren Jackson) were strongly tied to Coach Les and this has all been discussed before.
So regardless of what's being said now, I prefer to believe what was said in 2011, that Walt was extremely appreciative of the fact Jim Les had recruited him and given him a chance at the DI level, and that he was considered by JL as worthy of substantial playing time even though he was an untested freshman. Had he gone to UCD then he would have also gotten tons of playing time, but he couldn't have possibkly had certainty of same at BU with Donivine, Dyricus, AND Remy all vying for playing time at the exact same position (combo guard) as Walt.
- and that had he left BU to transfer - very few DI schools in the nation would have come calling - so again, tell me where Walt would have gone?

T , I hate to ride a dead horse but please show me where it is printed that " very few schools would have come calling" That is nothing more than your attempt at an opinion. What is known is that Walt said in print if Jim stayed he would have left. How in the world does that make any sense to you that if Jim stayed he would have left, why would he than transfer to UCD? I can not back this up but I'll bet someone would have taken Walt.

maybe ... but all I said was "very few DI schools would come calling" and I believe I am right.... and I guess the best proof that it was not in his best interests to transfer is Walt's own decision and history since then. Remember also - had JL stayed - then so would have Sammy Maniscalco, Donivine, and Remy Abell along with Jake & DSE - and Walt's playing time as a sophomore might have been seriously in jeopardy.
I guess we'll never know now but things may have gone differently given the variables...There's never been nor is there now even one shred of evidence that WL didn't like JL or didn't want to play for him, but based only on that cryptic comment about transferring all of a sudden everyone claims it's proof WL wouldn't have played for him.

Also - read the very next line after Walt makes the comment about transferring - it is his agent confirming that the issue was not who was coach - it was the opportunity for playing time, which might have been a ton better had he gone to UCD!

- BTW - as for all the DI's that come calling.....we have a couple freshmen leaving this year (Swop & Zecevic), and we had a couple sophomores that left last year (Crawford then Hodges & Davis before that...) -- tell me which DI schools they landed at??

Likewise ISU has had numerous players leave recently (Johnny Hill, Bryant Allen, Jordan Threloff, Kaza Keane, Nick Zeisloft, Trey Blue, Darius Clark..) very few of whom had a slew of top DI programs to choose from...

Don't see any of the BU players being D-1 players but just a Guess on my part. Can't answer regarding the ISU kids. Not familiar with them.

You missed Donivine Stewart. He left BU and is at a D1 school. He is not only playing, he started every game as a sophomore, lead his team in scoring, assists, and steals, and shot better and had more assists than any guard Bradley has had these last 3 years.
