Don't buy into the Evansville Hype and BU offense

You must not spend much time on Valley Talk if you don't think people exaggerate there. The Wichita fans always rate their recruits as certain All MVC players.

I don??™t think Ive read anything on VT as preposterous as TCS being "NBA Talent" luckily people are able to interpret the information themselves. If you don??™t believe what someone posts then ignore it. Da Coach said he had the transcript of exactly what his mother said why not post the exact quotes and let the readers decide?

I was on that chat and I can tell you that AW'smom never said he was going to redshirt. She did say it was a possibility. She did say other things but the way this is going I'll leave my comment nice and brief.

Yes, she said some other things that would lead one to believe she isn't JL's biggest fan. I would take what parents say with a grain of salt in these situations, and that's about all I will say at this point.

Well said SFP... Like a lot of people, I have been in the chat rooms... AW's mom is a class act. Lets give AW and his parents some privacy and hope for a speedy recovery for Andrew.

SFP, I did not know that the person in the chat room was or is Warrens mom, but what that person said regardless of whether it was a definitive, yes he was redshirting or said likely or it was a real possiblity, the situation is that person said things regarding Warrens' injury that gave everyone in that chat a real insight into the injury and the problems Warren is having.

It is very difficult for anyone who read what was written to not walk way from the discussion thinking anything other then he is going to ask for a redshirt. I do not remember the exact word that was used when it was being discussed about the fracture and the pain but the word redshirt was said by the poster.

If someone, who many know the exact relationship with a player, makes those comments in a public chat room to the exact extent the poster made, I find it diffcult to not believe those same statements should be off limits in another public forum. I understand here we dont speculate until it is confirmed by BU but even that is a bit of a stretch after the discussion and words typed in the chat room by the person who actually typed them.

Thanks SFP. I appreciate not getting into everything that was discussed in the privacy of the chat room. It was never stated by anyone that AW would redshirt.

AW's parents are super people, but I don't know if I have ever met a parent who didn't think the talents of their kid were a bit underappreciated by his coach.

Not trying to split hairs here, but isn't 'the privacy of a chat room' kind of an oxymoron? This is a public board, and a chat room is the most public of forums. While anonymity is certainly the right of someone on a message board/in a chat room, privacy is not. At least not in this medium. If it was a 'members only' site where users had to be validated to be let into the chat room, perhaps it would be different. Whatever she posts and says on here I think is fair game. If she didn't want her feelings known she wouldn't have written them for all to see.

Problem is DC the chat room is not a private place, it is public and anyone who chooses to sign in can participate. Again it might not have been said exactly he is or was for sure redshirting but when a person many in that room knows is close to that player uses the word redshirt in a way that either implies or likely confirms the redshirt, then it is very hard to not log out of that chat and think he is going to have to redshirt.

Regardless, the chat rooms are great for all of us not in Peoria, and very informative... maybe a bit to much huh :)

Actualy, houston, in a way, it is still private, since whatever was stated in that chatroom was not intended to be posted on a bulletin board.
And we do have control over who enters the chatroom.
That is why you need to register with your email address to enter, so you can be identified.

How do you or anyone who moderates the chat room know that what a poster writes is not intended to be picked up and posted on a bulletin board? How does anyone know that the person who said what was said in the chat room about Warren, that the actual intent of the posting was to make it public on a message board?

Regardless this is a silly discussion, the person said what was said and what that person said was made public. History can not be rewritten.

The person we are talking about has posted before on this board, so I assume if they wanted the board to know, they would have posted it here.
I still consider the chatroom to be private discussions, and I will not be posting the chatroom log here.

Yes I know the person has posted here and in the chat room before. What I am saying is that person, you dont know what their intent was in saying what was said in that room. And, the person might have wanted it to post it on the board, hoping that the information would make it to a board without that posters screen name attached to the information. Essentially having it leaked.

But I am curious, if that person from the chat room would have posted exactly what they knew and you knew exactly who that person was, would have that post been deleted because it was viewed as speculation?

agree 100%....
if something I have posted here, is reproduced out of context and assailed by, say Dick Vitale, on his blog, I might not have "legal" recourse, but I would sure be a little perturbed.
So now we have people asking that we reproduce something a player's parent might have said elsewhere....gimme a break...it just isn't going to happen.
If you want to know what they said in a chat room or board, then go look for yourself!

T, who asked for the transcript of the chat room discussion? I dont see anyone here on this board asking for anything like that. Most of us who have posted on this were also in the room, know what was said and I for one am not surprised what that poster said became public. I know I dont need the transcript I saw it and even commented on the pain whether it was during activity or was it constant.

Houston--
a request was made by a poster to reproduce the transcript of the chat room for all to see and then "let the people decide"...almost as if to challenge the integrity of a participant and maybe even the identity of the participant in the chat room.

We actually have rules that mirror every other message board in existence that prohibit efforts to identify posters and or chat room participants. It was not in response to anything that you have posted or said.

Wow now I know how the media can explain things so differently then whay I've heard myself.

BradleyBrave I never once took the comments from the chat as unflattering to JL! Was the person a little protective of AW? Well of course, what sow is not protective of her cubs. I was the one who asked about the possibility of a redshirt otherwise it may not have even been discussed. I do not believe our source during the chat is by any means discouraged by JL, not even KW of the PJS would put that in print.

Also you guys are probably destroying a great source of information for us by dwelling on this in this medium, so to you I say thank you!:-x

Give me a break.

It was up for interpretation. Others interpreted the same way I did. Again, I don't think parents are the best source for a lot of things related to the program. They aren't objective.

You really think we are going to get the same non edited information again from our source? What rock did you just crawl out from? Most people learn that when their words start being analyzed and twisted they tend to give out less information or NONE at all. That is one reason why reporters will tend to protect their source.

Maybe it is just me but I feel thar there are a few posters that go beyond constructive criticism and try to paint a negative picture of the program. Either they are by nature just negative or they really believe the program in itself is terrible with no future.

I don't really care if we hear from this person again or not. Certainly I encourage anyone and everyone with an interest in BU basketball to enjoy and participate on this site, but if someone isn't going to post on here anymore because people are discussing what THEY brought up, then I don't really care. I don't think it's a good idea for parents to participate in fan boards in the first place, as there's not really much good that can come out of it.

The poster in question is an adult, and didn't say the things about AW or JL on accident, and didn't say those things with the intent of them not being discussed. If you think that then you're naive. It is an internet chat room open to anyone who would like to participate. Also, it's common knowledge that once you say or send anything on the internet, it's subject to interception and interpretation by anyone who comes across it.

BTW - The rock I current live under is the one called reality, I encourage you to join us here.

That is a good one. You made me laugh! Maybe I am wearing rose colored glasses but I like that my world is 1/2 full. I believe that BU basketball is on its way to greatness, that the Baltimore Orioles will one day make it to the playoffs, once Angelos sells the team and the Bears will find a franchise QB. That to me is what a fan is about. If I want to dwell on the negatives I can turn on the news and listen to the talking heads discuss the economy, wars and crimes. This is one area that is fun to escape to and have hope. I do live in reality it's just that I do not think of sports as life or death just a way to be entertained.;-)
