Saw DSE play two games in the FF event yesterday. He struggled a bit in the first game, but penetrated well and drained three 3 pt shots in the second game. His outside shot still needs some work, but it is improving!
He may not get a chance to play right away next year, but after Roberts and Dunson graduate, I can see DSE in the guard rotation along with EM, SM and JE.
Would love to see him in BU red next year!

I have to ask this simply because I do not get great vibes about this player. But he were from Ames Iowa would everyone be clamering for DSE to sign with Bradley. Everything equal and as it appear BU is not his number one choice, would all of you still want him this badly?
I know he is player of the year in Peoria but he is only 6'1 we are very solid at guard and realisticaly the 1/2 is the area JL has excelled at recruiting in the past and his kid, who sounds very good, is likely going to be in a BU uniform.
I just feel that everyone is big on DSE simply because he is from Central Illinois. But all things equal take that out and I doubt many would be so high on him.

Do you think Dodie Dunson is a player that helps Bradley? Was he worth a scholarship? I think anyone who has seen him would say yes. He's a winner.
If you like Dodie, you will love DSE. He is a similar player, with toughness that you do not see in players that MVC teams get.

I'm sure I'll get labeled as a homer, but I've seen DSE play for two years at WCHS, and the kid can really play! IMO, his game is very similar to Ahelgebe from UNI...and who among us wouldn't want that kid on our team?
I hope he decides to stay home and go to BU!

Well I think that is part of it. I am OK with that. I don't think he is better than the players we currently have. He has four years to develop and is supposed to be a hard worker. i also think it has been reported that he is 6-3 not 6-1 but I am not sure to trust those reports or not. Overall he would be a very good get.Not one that would make me jump with exitement.

I have seen and broadcast many DSE games over the years- he has a mature body- has some of his dad's toughness and would be a good addition at BU- HAs good hands- good instincts, too!

I dont know how one rates "toughness". I've seen a lot of tough players in the MVC through the years. Im not trying to be argumentative, just trying to understand what he has that other MVC players don't. Especially when it comes to intangibles like "toughness" and "being a winner".
I do agree with Houston's question. It is natural for fans to get overly excited about local players. Its human nature. They've seen them--followed them--etc. We know more about them than some kid from Ames, Iowa. It doesn't make them better or worse.
Again, until we see how he stacks up against the recruits the other nine schools are getting its tough to get a good read really. I guess it would be nice to get DSE but I would prefer an athletic 6-6 type guy.
I wouldn't mind the athletic 6'6 guy but given that Wilkins and Sean Harris are on tap to come here next year, I think a strong case could be made to bring in DSE with this recruiting class. I dont watch too many HS games, but from what I have seen, I think that DSE could be a very good division 1 player...
I think Rashad Austin still has a year of eligibility left.

By the way, if you ever talk to a college coach or anyone involved in recruiting, one of the words they use the most in describing kids is "toughness".
That's where I got the term from in DSE's case, someone accustomed to evaluating high school talent.
I've heard it a lot by people in the recruiting business.
I saw DSE play in last years state tour. and he impressed me with his ability to run his teams offense, his only weakness seemed to be his 3 point shot but that can be improved with a lot of shooting in the summer , we can only hope he turns out to be as good a player as the UNI point guard , I think he would be a good fit for BU as it would give this class a point guard, a shooting guard, a 6-8 wing player that can shoot and a 6-8 strong inside player, add Wilkens and Harris the following season and we are in really good shape.
I saw him standing next to Dodie and I'd say they are within 1/4 inch of each other.
As noted his outside shot is improving. He's a good defender. Anyone who actually gets on the floor for Coach Brown has to be. He's "tough" or physically mature or however you want to phrase it.
He really needs to work on a couple other aspects of his game including finishing when forced to his left. There were a couple games over the past couple years when teams had defenders who were quick and/or strong enough to stay with Sims-Edwards who forced him off of his right hand. He couldn't ever finish when going left. If he was able to cross back to his right then he'd score.
There are very few, if any, high school seniors that don't have flaws in their game though.
Having said that, I am certain Coach Les can work with his natual ability and allow success at BU.

I've seen DSE play too & he is bigger than 6'1". Personally whether he's local or not two things jump out at me. KSU has offered (that is a decent b-ball school) and history has shown that the local players that JL has gone after & gotten have produced (Sommerville, Crouch, Ruffin). I trust this staff to evaluate talent whether it's local or otherwise.
