Dr. Cross to Penn St.

A perfect fit, let's hope he helps ruin their program like he did ours. They should have gotten the death penalty. Still a faction of Paterno apologists out there. Sickening

Dr. Cross will oversee the hockey teams. I don't think Joe Paterno had a lot to do with them. Anyway, Penn State has a beautiful, state-of-the-art hockey arena.

As previously noted on BradleyFans...Dr. Cross is now with Penn State
...he is an Assistant AD in the Athletic Dept. & will oversee hockey and the club rugby programs

Then 3 days later they hired another Assistant Athletic Director
http://news.psu.edu/story/365014/20...-named-penn-state-assistant-athletic-director

Then four days after that they hired another Assistant Athletic Director - the third ni a week - and all appear to be completely new positions just invented & need to fill
http://news.psu.edu/story/365298/2015/08/10/chapman-named-penn-state-assistant-athletic-director

So I wondered just how many Assistant AD's they have!

Their Staff Directory lists almost 40 Assistant or Associate Athletic Directors (the three above are new positions & not yet added to the Staff Directory), plus another 50 or so other "Directors" and "Assistants" within the department, and a grand total of over 200 employees of the Department of Athletics...
it must sure be nice to have Penn State football-type $$ rolling in!

Penn State news...

No sooner does Dr. Cross post a tweet about DJ Newbill (who just finished his career at Penn State), then something really unusual happens...
"D-Jay Newbill: An Open Thank You Letter to PSU President,
AD and Head Coach http://wp.me/p3Sifs-lAd"

https://twitter.com/MichaelCrossAD/status/632901014052569088

Here's a direct link to the letter from Newbill
http://delgrecowilson.com/2015/08/1...ou-letter-to-psu-president-ad-and-head-coach/

But then last night - Penn State basketball player DJ Newbill was arrested in Germany on suspicion of TERRORISM!
http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-ba...ofiling?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

It is believed that the arrest stems from protocol that the Germans have to intercept Americans that might be travelling thru those nations
on their way to the middle east...

More Penn State news...

.."increased tension" between Penn State's football and compliance offices...
...from increased scrutiny....I guess to avoid more NCAA heat they are breathing down everyone's necks....

"...Student Affairs...tracked court records to find unreported allegations of underage drinking, substance abuse and public misconduct among student-athletes, the report said.....the report cited an increased number of minor violations reported to the NCAA

Penn State last year reported 31 Level III and IV violations, which the NCAA considers isolated, inadvertent or incidental.

The football program reported 29 percent of the violations last year, according to the report. Some related to "inappropriate uses of social media."..."

......Dr. Cross is now with Penn State....is an Assistant AD ....will oversee hockey ....

Penn State's women's hockey (Dr. Michael Cross' department, he is listed as Women's Hockey Administrator) dealing with major issues/allegations...
http://www.centredaily.com/sports/college/penn-state-university/psu-hockey/article77374857.html

an almost identical situation also going on in another sport at Penn State

more on abuse scandals at Penn State - first football, then hockey & gymnastics...
http://www.centredaily.com/sports/college/penn-state-university/article78837237.html

but this story is interesting - the head coach of the gymnastics team is actually A COUPLE - a married couple Jeff & Rachelle Thompson..but
despite abuse allegations against BOTH Jeff & Rachelle - only Rachelle is stepping down but her husband remains the head coach

and interesting that the Penn State AD specifically slams the athletes who are complaining about the abuse!!
"(AD Sandy) Barbour was not pleased with how both situations played out in the media."
She specifially assailed "that players coming out and talking publicly..." - might have influenced how the public sees the situation! So, I guess if they are being abused, they oughta just shut up and take it?

the player mistreatment scandal in women's hockey at Penn State lead to
Dr. Michael Cross making his FIRST coaching fire & hire in his tenure at Penn State.
(- the mistreatment took place in 2015 & 2016 while Cross was the AD of women's ice hockey)

He forced out their head coach Josh Brandwene in the midst of the player mistreatment scandal - not to mention the guy couldn't win any games even though 1/2 their schedule are lowly non-DI teams (17 of 34 teams are Union, Minnesota-Duluth, Clarkson, Merrimack Mercyhurst, RIT, Lindenwood, etc)
PSU spun the whole thing as "the guy retired" but nobody's buying that, as the guy was only 48 and was pushed out because of the brewing scandal...then instantly took another job within days after being ousted by Penn State -

The guy Cross hired was the guy who was women's hockey coach at Princeton back when Cross was at Princeton - so he's kinda pulling a Joanne Glasser move by hiring his own guy from his old school.

This is the third major housecleaning of coaches following abuse scandals recently at Penn State-
Football, Gymnastics, and now women's ice hockey
