Dse

This is where I agree that we miss Dodie a little, because he was also that type of player...

Give me a team full of Maniscalco's, Roberts', Dunson's, and DSE's, and I'm sure we would win a lot more games...

I just wish the guys who have more talent would see how they work and mimic it.

I was just thinking that SM, DD and DSE are the 3 guys I was most looking forward to see next year..

I agree with you ph. But a lot of other people like the way Warren plays so I have a feeling AW will still be starting this year and next like it or not.

I'm all for starting DSE over Roberts. Chris might be the most athletic player in the conference and most nights his defense is good, but if he isn't going to use his athleticism and get to the rack, then let's have someone who will. Not to mention the fact that Dyricus has proved this year that he is probably going to be starting a lot of games in his Bradley career. The more, the better.
Dse deserves to start, Roberts plays his a-- off so who is not playing up to their capability as coming off the bench may incite him to play better as I was always told you earn your start and your minutes.

My thought on that statement...

Andrew Warren

When he stood around and looked right into the camera at the ball (most know which play I am talking about), and Indiana State ends up drilling a 3, I could've reached in the tv and slapped him myself.

AW can make certain offensive shots look sooo smooth. It is easy to get caught up in that natural skill...

I am thinking, I will add JE as a 4th player I'm looking forward to seeing play next year. JE knows he needs to out-work others, too.

He is a 6-4 guard, he had better work on his outside shooting and his freethrows.

I am looking forward to seeing the whole team next year, as I hope everyone will be much improved.

I think the one good thing that could come of JE losing his redshirt is him getting some small time and getting to see in live action what he needs to be able to do and what he needs to work on to get there. With a whole offseason of knowing those things and working at them vs. still never seeing the court and not really knowing what he needs to work on, I think will make a big difference for him. I also think he is a better shooter than he has shown, because he doesn't shoot outside consistently enough due to limit minutes to get in a rhythm. He seemed to have a smooth stroke in the high school videos I saw of him.

I think with a whole season under his belt after the injury and now getting to see how things are when he is the focus of defenses and suppose to lead us, will help AW prepare for that role in the offseason as well. Remember he isn't use to being a focus, he was suppose to let offense come to him when he last played, and defer to JC and Ruff for big plays and to be go to guys. I think he will come to understand from a years experience of being "the guy" now what it is he needs to improve and how his playing style might need to change in the offseason in order to fill that role more effectively. I think he will learn how to take control. I think that coupled with him wanting to go out with a bang like any senior will cause him to have a very productive offseason and be a great player next year.

Maybe it is just me being overly optimistic, but I really think I see all the pieces coming together next year and everyone being at their best for a great year! I think SM, AW, and DD will be motivated more than ever and go out with a bang, I think WE, TB, JE, MK, and DSE will all take big stides after their first years with real playing time, and I think even EM and AT can develop into servicable backups that help us a lot next year. Plus I am excited about and hope I get to see JW and JP next year as well!

I don't think everyone stays...

That is the real issue...

Well until I hear someone is leaving beyond a rumor, I'm counting everyone as being here. And even if one or two do leave, I still think this team has enough pieces to still be a very good and deep team.

Yes, but isn't that what the consensus was coming into this year?

Until Les proves me wrong and decides to play more than 7 deep (10+ min) I will never consider any team we have deep....

He just doesn't know how to work with benches, substitution patterns, and keeping everyone in the game mentally and physically.

We REALLY need 10 guys getting on the floor next season.
I can't wait to see Dodie next year and TB will be even better next year. Hopefully, he'll gain 15 lbs. or so in the offseason.
AW needs to make better choices offensively and get tougher defensively.
I hope to see EM have a breakthrough season next year as a backup to SM with some scoring punch.

NOW is the time to start getting these younger guys some P.T. (Eastman, Milos, EM (when healthy)) so they can play roles on next year's team.
I hope SS gets less than 10 minutes on Saturday in an almost meaningless game...well, I guess a win would get us closer to the CBI! ;-)
I just don't get AT and his lack of P.T.
I've seen him in a few games this year and he's looked better than SS.

We are not deep no doubt about it this year, but to say JL wouldn't play deep even if he had it is not true. In 05-06 we had depth so we played deep. We played DR, WF, TB, LW, MS, POB, JJ Tauai, ZA all significantly and DA, JC, and RB all got some significant minutes from time to time thoughout the year in games. A lot of guys got time and played that year because we had the ability to do so. Because of injuries and suspensions and whatever else we just haven't had that depth the last few year and that is why we haven't played it, not because JL wouldn't use it even if we did. Who can you argue should be getting significantly more minutes than they are right now?

Actually we didn't even that year...

Check the stats...We played 8 guys and then Adams played less than 10, Brown played less than 10, and Heemskerk played less than 10 a game...

Even after that, Jeremy played 15 a game, but barely played the last 1/2 of the season...

So really we once again only played 8 guys significant minutes...

Whenever SS comes into the game, it just reminds me that we're not deep, especially in the frontcourt. We will not be solid next year if we don't get a big man (maybe a JUCO player) to spell TB and WE. I'm not sure how big of an adjustment JP will need to make, but I hope he's a nice surprise like DSE has been and is not soft. If we have an injury to one of our big men next year, we'll have our hands full.

I agree with everything else but this line. the only way we ever go 10 deep is if this team becomes an in your face end line to end line defensive team. JL has never done that and I'm not sure if the starters have the stomach for it.

I think DSE handles his role off of the bench much better than Chris Roberts would.

It has nothing to do with who handles what off the bench better, it has to do with who deserves to start. CR came off the bench last year and did a great job. CR would be the first guy off the bench and inject some needed energy.

Another thing is that we still do not have a legitimate big IMHO. Next year's team will be better but without a true big we'll be marginally better. I also expect AW to be much improved next year with the ability work the ball a bit stronger inside. He's the defensive target out there and then SM is the next guy teams try to stop.

Also, for once SM looked inside during the pick and rolls and hit SS twice in a row. Imagine a big setting a pick and rolling to the basket and getting the ball. Get us a true big and we can have that working for us and that will leave WE open for some easy baskets from the weakside. Teams with a decent big right now can play us straight up. Being a guard league every team has decent fast guards that can D up and shoot.

I'd like to see a DSE start, and we may...

Not sure who I'd sit... AW or CR being the candidates... I'd tend towards AW sitting at this point, based on comparative effort, though I think our offense may really suffer with that lineup. DSE, I think, will be a very good or even great player for us, but his outside shooting is streaky now so we'd be almost all slash with a SM, DSE, CR, TB, WE lineup.

Btw: My Ruffin avatar will finally be retired when I find a good DSE avatar... That's how much I like DSE's game.

I think DSE is now ready to start. I would sit Roberts as he is strictly an athlete; DSE is an athlete and a player.

I would NOT like to see AW sit. I also think that with DSE and SM penetrating and kicking the ball back out that AW can find his game and consistency. However, I HAVE noticed that Chuck Buescher has been MUCH more critical of AW and, at times, seems genuinely upset, disappointed, and bitter with the kid. I also have noticed the same from Les during timeouts -- almost as if Big Bish has "poisoned" Les' ear. What do ya'll think?
