Duke vs NC game

Well NC is totally in control this time around with Lawson playing. I think Duke shot about 25% in the first half LOL. Anyways on a side note, I'd like to see what the Bradley administration would say about the Duke speedo guy if a Bradley fan did that LOL.

Jason

Oh, and did I mention that the refs absolutely suck in this game. Players getting clobbered all over the place and no call, yet other times a bump is a blocking foul. Hate those type of games.

Tyler Hansbrough is the best player in college basketball, and even if you disagree, I'd bet he's still in your top-two.

So tell me why absolute idio*ts like this guy from the Chicago Tribune write a full, unnecessary, unsolicited column ripping the kid royally?
http://chicagosports.chicagotribune...-tyler-hansborough-morrissey,1,2890841.column

"Tyler Hansbrough would be at the top of my "not-to-like" list

"You would think he's Michael Jordan"

and the original article went on to say he'd be a mediocre pro player and that he isn't as good as everyone thinks he is....
then suddenly the article is changed....
Maybe Morrissey realized he's a idio*t.

Duke reminds me a lot like Bradleys team this season. Little D and a lot of perimeter play due to lack of a post man. In the first half tonight, 3's weren't falling and was down by 10 points most of the half. In 2nd half, 3's are falling like crazy and now the game is currently tied. I would think a 5th ranked team would have some good post play but I guess not.

Did anyone else hear Dick Vitale's comment when they were talking about bubble teams? "They better be hoping a team like Drake doesn't lose." Either he hasn't kept up enough to know it's #1 vs. #2 in the Valley finals, or he thinks we're a 1-team league. I would hope ISU is in win or lose, but stranger things have happened. And Vitale's comment should worry Redbird fans....

I think ISU is in. But an ISU win would bump one team down a couple seeds, and even things like that irk the lovers of the ACC.

There was a Duke NC game today? How did i miss it? I would of never knew during the few times I caught any ESPN coverage the last week

I honestly think the article makes a good point. Hansbrough is good but is way overexposed. That's not his fault though, it's ESPN's. I think he's a nice player and I even think he could have a decent professional career but I am sick and tired about hearing how great he is because of hustle and sheer force of will.

I think the fact that he puts up the numbers he does and is not overly athletic like other All=Americans may have something to do with it.

It seems like all announcers over-hype the stars during the games..

Mussberger does it for virtually every game..like there always has to another story other than the game at hand

Unlike last year, when the simultaneously broadcast the Duke-UNC game on BOTH ESPN and ESPN2 (almost every cable system gets BOTH channels, so the logic in this is puzzling), so you have to search for it on only one station this year!

and pfunk.....the point I made was that the Morrisey article was more negative when it was first posted on the Trib site, and spent a full paragraph detailing how overrated he was and how he's never going to be more than an average player in the NBA.
I didn't copy the article at that point, and when I went back to it after watching the game last night, the article was modified and the worst rips were removed,
and all that was left was the short line "He will be an average player in the NBA".
I guess enough people e mailed the Trib about the unfair insults againt TH.
Hey, I'd take the kid first if we had a draft right today of ever college basketball player in the nation! It is no accident that his team wins a bunch and he has most of his best games when it's needed.

Jason, please tell us you are not buying a red speedo for the next Bradley home game LOL.:-o

On a side note, didnt Coach K put a stop to the speedo guy?

You are very right about this Jason. Duke is the other college team that I follow. There are some plays that Duke runs that would fit in the JL offensive schemes very well.imo

Haha, no speedo from me. Although ESPN may refrain from showing the speedo guy in the future as he did the "suck it, pointing at his jewels gesture" while on camera. The announcers apologized on air but I imagine the Duke administration might do something about it. Also, wasn't this the most physical game you've seen that the refs have allowed? Hansbrough should of been to the line at least 5 or 6 times but didn't get 1 FT attempt. It went both ways but that was some odd officiating.

Tyler Hansbrough

Tyler Hansbrough

Another negative Tyler Hansbrough article.

http://www.sportsline.com/columns/story/10700001

Except this j3rk-nuts decides to inject race into the article :( . He is deservedly getting absolutely ripped in the comments section at the bottom.

Ask yourself this: If the name Beasley was inserted for Hansbrough and the word "black" inserted for "white" would this writer still have a job?!

Funny, but I never thought of it as a racial thing like this writer did, just the usual Vitale excessive overstatements. It seems that some writers are threatened by a very good white player. Maybe this guy thinks that the top echelon of players should be reserved only for blacks. Seems a little like some kind of entitlement mentality.

I didn't get a chance to read the original part of the Morrisey column where he apparently ripped into Hansbrough's future in the NBA, but I agree with him in saying that he won't be much more than an average pro. And by "average" I mean not the superstar that he is in college. I'd bet good money that a lot of pro scouts and analysts would agree.

Hansbrough's not freakishly gifted with his athleticism, but he is with his hustling and ability to bust his a$$ to go after loose balls. That'll be enough to keep him in the league for 10 or 15 years, and he'll be a fan favorite. But he won't be a perennial all-star.

People have said Hansbrough doesn't have a good enough shot to play away from the basket, and at 6-8 he isn't big enough to play close to it.
And that he isn't mobile enough to guard an opponent who is a 3 or a 4, but he isn't tall enough to guard a 5.

But I'll take the kid...he is a 6-8 version of Charles Barkley, Wes Unseld, and Dave Cowens all rolled into one.

I agree with you T. The kid has a way to will the game and shots to his favor. He'll play a solid 4 in the NBA with all the physical play he'll fit in right away. He does have a mid-range jumper and no one will out hustle him. What gets me about the article is that here is a kid who enjoys the sport to its fullest, loves to compete, plays smart, busts his a55 every minute on the floor, he has never said anything about playing in the NBA and you talk smack on him. PLEASE!!!! Every college coach in AMERICA wish they had him going to war with them.
