Duke

Another team spiraling down quickly is Duke. Down by 10 at Maryland with 5.5 minutes left, which would give Duke its 4th straight loss and a 5-6 ACC record which is good for 7th place. Although it would only put them at 18-7 overall. Another couple losses and they may not make the big dance.

Duke

Lets not forget that I believe Duke only had one true road game in their first 13 games which makes their record even more deceiving.

You are right, but don't get your hopes up that they won't make it as they are Duke. If any team would get in with a sub-.500 record in their league it would be Duke. Heck, they could lose out and still get in. It's Duke, remember, Duke, coach K and all of that...

Duke has even less quality true road wins than BU. NC state, I think, is their best, their RPI is 122, right behind Drake. They do have some nice neutral site wins though, plus you know the committee will not leave Duke out, as coach K threatened to not be their friend anymore if they did.

Duke could lose out then lose in the play in game of the ACC tourney and not only still make the NCAA tourney but be no less then a 5 seed.

They will not miss the tourney. CBS, NCAA, American Express, no one will allow that to ever ever ever happen.

Agreed. If they lose out they could be as low as a 6 seed, but they will be in the tourney.

Jerry Palm's site at collegerpi.com has Duke as an 8 seed on Monday afternoon's bracket.

He updates his bracket on Monday and Friday until the final week before Selection Sunday when he updates it daily.

The Duke talkinghead wagons are already circling, Digger and the woman on gamenight on ESPN both pretty much said there is no way Duke would miss the NCAA's. It would only be a formality where they are seeded but Digger did think they would be one and done or two and go barbaque.

I really would love to see the reaction if Duke goes 2-4 in their last 6 and loses their first ACC game which has them at 6-10 in conference and 20-12 with exactly 2 road wins .. at NC State and at Miami and zero non conference road wins(or played), is that enough to warrent an at large. That would be 2-8 in their last ten. And as we were told last year conferences do not get bids... this would be very interesting.

This all really puts the Selection Committee in a very tight spot. What do they hang their hat on? Out-of-Conference games? (Winning) Conference record? Road record?

Here's a short list to root putting the committe in a tuff spot:
Duke
Maryland
Mich St
Alabama
Arkansas
Tex Tech
Mississippi
Syracuse
Vandy
