Dwight Buycks update

Milwaukee Bay View High School played last night, it's first game since the massive brawl at their last game against Bradley Tech. Bay View beat Milwaukee Pulaski 80-60, Buycks had a game high 22 points.--

As a result of the brawl, Bay View had only about 15 fans in attendance, Pulaski had a few more. The Milwaukee mayor decreed that the game would be played in private, with each player receiving just 2 tickets for family.

In all fairness, I think the statement "massive brawl at their last game" is a bit inaccurate.

The brawl wasn't during the game, but in fact the entire disturbance occurred fully after the game was over and all the players had left the floor.
The articles describe the event this way:
-the majority of the fans in the building were from Bradley Tech (not the school Buycks plays for), and when their team won the overtime game, many of the Bradley Tech fans stormed the floor. Pockets of fighting broke out between the fans of the two schools and then escalated from there.

Lastly, I have an idea that would help solve these kinds of riots.
Instead of banning everyone except the family of the players, I say allow other students, but.......make every kid who attends the game come with one or both parents. I know it sounds silly, but just maybe school kids should do things with their parents and just maybe the parents could have helped to prevent the behavior issues. Second, make everyone in the gym wear a simple, cheap name tag to identify them, and then the police can more accurately punish any offenders.
Finally, find a way to keep the fans of the two team separated. Make them enter and leave by separate doors.

Sadly, nothing will prevent every incident.
Just last night, after the game in Country Club Hills, IL between Hillcrest HS and Rich Central, a post-game shooting that sent one 15 year old to the hospital.

I would have to think Dwight Buycks will be happy to play in Peoria as it is not much fun to play in front of a handful of people .

This kid is going to be something at BU!!! I know we think that about every kid coming in but along with Sam these two will help take BU to the top of the MVC. What a great signing by Jim and the staff........

He has not signed yet ; it is only a verbal.

Yup! He has signed!.
You are confusing Dwight Buycks with Saginaw Michigans Daniel West, who because he is a Junior, has only verballed.

I think he verbaled to BU after the signing period and he has not signed his LOI? I am not sure but realfan may be right? Anyone know for sure?

Dwight Buycks committed to Bradley publicly and verbally in late December.

The only time a kid can "sign a letter of intent" is during one of the Official Signing Peorids. The last signing period was in November, and Buycks did not sign at that time, as he didn't commit until December.

The next signing perior will be in April, and I suspect Buycks will sign his letter of intent then.

April 11 - May 16, 2007.

However, until then, as was seen with Charlie Villanueva and others, the kid could still do something different. Even after signing, as seen in Justin Dentmon, Dodie Dunson, and Manual Cass, the kid could still end up elsewhere, but it is always nice to have the LOI.

I have also talked to someone who has seen Buycks play. He is very athletic and has a strong muscular build for a 17 year old kid. He is an aggressive defender, good ball handler, and scores most of his points on drives to the basket and offensive rebounds. He is a good outside shooter, but doesn't take many 3 pointers. We'll hear a lot more about his game when the coaches can talk about him after he signs.

Dwight Buycks was the game's leading scorer as Milwaukee Bay View held on for a 55-53 win over non-conference opponent Nicolet High School (the high school Joah Tucker attended).

Buycks continues as one of the top scorers in the Milwaukee area and the state.

As I said elsewhere....

Buycks is multitalented, and looks like a 6-2 or 6-3 version of Tony Bennett.
I think he can help right away just like Andrew Warren has this year.

Maybe I missed this before. How is this guy's name pronounced? (I do know how to pronounce Dwight, before anyone decides to be a wise-@ss   )

Here is a new article from this morning about Dwight Buycks. It is from WisconsinHoops.com

http://www.wissports.net/wishoops/courtside/featureArticle.asp?fid=14&nid=14046

It requires a password. But it talks about how Dwight has elevated his game. He nearly had a triple double recently with 16 points, 16 rebounds, and 9 assists in a win over Kaukauna.
