Averaging 9.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, and 3.5 apg, and shooting 40% from 3 for Marquette so far this year. Sure would have been nice if he'd have gotten his grades in line and ended up at BU. Heck, he would be our 2nd leading rebounder right now!

Wouldn't have mattered...

He's a player on the long list of players that turned a bad situtation into a major advantage.


Some of these guys BU really didn't have much business in recruiting...



For example, look at some of the guys Creighton has got...I use them as they've been the most consistently good team in the league in the last 10 years.


Anyways, look at Booker Woodfox for example...the kid was under the radar and wasn't being recruited by much of anybody out of HS or JC. The Jays found him, he fit their system to a T, and they ran with it.

What they got was a kid who overachieved according to what the m0ron scouts said and he turned into a star in Omaha.


Those are the types Bradley needs to look at...overachieving, 30% talent, 70% work ethic.
 
Don't really agree on that one SLB.. Dwight Buycks wasn't that highly recruited when Bradley went after him. He "blew up" after he failed to qualify here.
 
I would hold judgement on Buycks (and another impressive BU recruit- freshman Darius Johnson-Odom) until we see how they play against "real" D1 teams. So far, Marquette has played Centenary, who is dropping out of D1 and will have an RPI by year's end of around 340, and Maryland Eastern Shore, who will end up not too much better.

I believe both are very talented, but they are both around 6' tall, not big for a shooting guard in the Big East. When Marquette gets to the part of their schedule where they play Xavier, Creighton, NC State, Wisconsin, and then a full Big East slate, I suspect he won't get so many easy baskets.

Agreed. The guys we need to stop wasting our time with are the Xavier Crawfords, Jeremy Fears, and DeAaron Williams of the world.
 
Yeah, just seems to be common feature of our recruiting that we're in on guys that eventually blow up. Not sure if that relates to a good eye for talent in our coaching stuff, or just because we offer earlier than the big programs, or just hear about it early enough here that it seems like they blow up later. Either way, it seems like we're after good talent for the most part.
 
One kid who we were incredibly close to landing, Larry Anderson, has truly blown up for Long Beach St. Anderson, a 6'6 sophomore guard is averaging 19ppg, 5.5 ast (compared to 1 TO), and 3 rebounds after the first 2 games. He woulda have looked great in red and white!

Agreed, on this board it was even 'soft-announced' that we were getting him. I was pretty excited. Looks like we missed out on that one. But I did like both Norris and McCain coming in last year, who knows what would have happened if he had been here... I do follow to see what he's doing and he looks pretty impressive to me.
 
Word I heard is that he left Peoria after his visit and told players and coaches he would be signing with BU but wanted to return home and talk with family. Then the next thing BU heard was he preferred Long Beach State, because he's from So. California.

Yeah, I got the same thing. Not meant to say any misinformation was given, only that I was excited when I heard the news.
 
Slightly off-topic, but since we're talking about recruits that Bradley missed on, David Brown of Western Michigan played his first game a few nights ago. Not the best debut in the world. 12 minutes, 0 points, 2 rebounds, and 5 fouls.
