Dyricus and Kansas State

Great compliment. Thanks for that. UNI puts a premium on player development and have been able to get kids to buy into that for the most part. They have to do this b/c they aren't the recruiting capital of the MVC (or state of Iowa for that matter). Most people don't pay much attention to UNI recruiting outside of UNI fans...b/c of that they don't get the acclaim as other MVC schools, IMO.

every school whiffs on a few kids and they don't pan out....both UNI and Bradley have a few of those...
but the proof is in the pudding....and you guys showed some great progress and development this season.

Another memo to Dyricus...

Look what the Kansas State fans think of you!

Here is a post from yesterday on their 2009 recruiting...

(you may have to sign up to see th epost)

Here's what it says...

"kinda odd.
http://www2.pjstar.com/index.php/reynolds/article/simms-edwards_narrows_college_list_to_3/ (link to Simms-Edwards article)
Backup for if we are losing Brown, but are not getting Stevenson or Peterson? He's a combo guard. 34% 3pt shooter. 2.5 apg, 17.3 ppg.
I'm glad we have backups, but I'd hate to not get Peterson.
http://www.ihsa.org/activity/bkb/2007-08/3info1.htm"

So--- they fully expect Dyricus is simply a fall back, a "backup"
then in the very next post they say they'd rather have Vee Sanford.
btw-- Vee Sanford claims to have 19 offers....including K-State, Nebraska, Marshall, etc..

Come on, we all know people that frequent message boards clueless knuckleheads.....

we may be just that....but at least we here at BradleyFans appreciate Dyricus and want him here!!
Those bozos don't!

Don't know for sure, but we may be out of the DSE sweepstakes as UNI landed a verbal from a WG from Coffeyville CC (originally from Marshall HS) in Antonio Jones 6'4"/200lbs.

http://www.wcfcourier.com/blogs/coss/

Anyone seen this kid play. He's 4 years removed from HS, so he should be a fairly mature young man.

Jones said he was also being recruited by Bradley, Illinois State, Texas-El Paso, Texas Christian, Loyola-Chicago and Troy State. He took an official visit to UNI last Friday.
--From the article cited above

Gotta love when we find out about who we recruited after the fact! Who knows when and how hard we were pushing, but good work Les & Crew for keeping it under wraps.

Sounds like UNI may be getting a nice under-the-radar guy!

Upon further research, it looks like Jones was only 5'9 when a junior at Marshall HS. I found his name on a CPL roster from 2004. He then went to a prep school, followed by a year at Western Nebraska, and fell off the radar for a year, before landing at Coffeyville where he was their 2nd leading scorer and primary defender (by all accounts that I can find...at least it's hinted at).

More on Antonio Jones- according to Jucojunction, UNI may have been the only offer he had so far. It doesn't list Bradley.-

Bradley had been recruiting his teammate at Coffeyville CC, Lenny Daniel. At one time, Rivals reported that Bradley offered a scholarship to Daniels, but after getting commitments from Knezevic and Prosser, the profile no longer lists Bradley.-
http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread.php?t=9575

Lenny Daniel is listed as the #15 ranked juco player in his class. Antonio Jones is not listed in the Top 150-

In other juco recruiting- DeAntre Jefferson, a big 6'8", 230 pound center who is originally from Bloomington, IL, committed to Tennessee-Chattanooga.
He had been recruited by Illinois State and Southern Illinois.

It doesn't answer too many questions... but does confirm that Tony Lewis will be visiting ISU this weekend. He played with O at Chicago Phillips High School and current ISU Assistant Coach Paris Parham was their coach at Phillips.

Could they talk him into walking on his first year? Does Jank know something we don't about a player leaving, Bobby Hill's health, or something else??? (its obvious that Jank knows more...but what is it?). Benson says Jank doesn't anticipate any players leaving or not being eligible... while Jank wouldn't tell Benson anything to the contrary, I don't think he would say that at all if it wasn't true... Only time will tell I suppose

...

Tony Lewis indeed did put up some impressive numbers for Ellsworth, which is D-II juco.
Looking at the names of the other guys on the D-II First Team All American list, I cannot recognize any other name and wonder if any of the others are going to a D-I four-year college?

NJCAA Division II First Team All American

Darius Adams Guard 6'0 So Lincoln College
Tony Lewis Forward 6'6" So Ellsworth Community College
Nafis Ricks Guard 6'2" So Johnson County Community College
Antonio Haymon Forward 6'6 So Cecil College
Jeron Belin Forward 6'7" So Monroe Community College
T.J. McCauley Guard 6'2" So Bismarck State College
Nick Carey Guard 5'9" So South Suburban College
Mark Anderson Forward 6'7" So Sinclair Community College
Dustin Todd Forward 6'4" So North Arkansas College
Bryce Brunz Guard 6'0" So Kirkwood Community College
Pierre De Clue Guard 5'10" So. MCC-Penn Valley

BTW-- anyone remember when one certain DII juco had FIVE different kids who were on Division I-four year rosters
(two even got All American mention and one was 1st Team!), and some people even said their starters were better than Bradley!
..yet not only did that team never get out of their own regional, but not one of those players even made a dent at the D-I college level.
(DeAaron Williams, Shang Ping, Billy Baptist, Wendell Mardis, Brandon Lee)

Tony Lewis is being brought in for a visit at ISU, even though ISU would appear to be out of scholarships. (Carmichael would be taking their 13th and final scholarship....so it'll be an interesting situation that even ISU fans
are probably wondering about). The 13 players for 2009-2010 would be .......
Carmichael, Eldridge, Phillips, Dinma, Hill, Rubin, Johnson, Jeremy Robinson, Thornton, Clark, Ekey, Terrence Johnson, & Upshaw.)
This would appear to suggest a couple of possibilities......
maybe there is someone else going to leave and we just haven't heard about it...
maybe Jank is just keeping all his options open in case someone leaves or flunks out before summer..
maybe Eldridge or someone else will leave and go pro...(OE has reportedly decided to place his name in the draft but not yet made it known if he will hire an agent)
or maybe someone presently on scholarship will be asked to give up their scholarship and either leave of become a walk on...

I think Eldridge will be going pro. He's ready.
