Daniel Poneman is now writing a blog for a site named MouthpieceSports.com.
He has an update on Dyricus Simms-Edwards. He reports that he has received an offer from Kent State and is also receiving interest from Kansas State, Iowa, Wichita State and Washington State.
I have heard that Bradley is still interested in him. This article suggests he will "most likely sign late."--

I hope the Braves can land DS with the last ride.but who really knows where we stand with him...so it wouldn't bother me at all if DSE ended up becoming a Brave....I know at one time he was very interested in the hilltop!

A new premium article from the Iowa Rivals site about their interest in Dyricus Simms-Edwards--
Iowa showing interest in 2009 point guard

This article reports that Simms-Edwards is at 100% now, and has offers from Illinois State (already filled all their scholarships), Wichita State, and Kent State. He is not planning to sign this November signing period, but wait until spring. He feels because his injury that caused him to miss much of the summer AAU circuit caused some schools to drop off him, that he can get more offers by waiting and playing well his senior season.
He will be making a campus visit to Kent State this weekend.

Meanwhile, Iowa, Missouri State, and Kansas State have been keeping in touch and plan to evaluate him during the season. Iowa has attended an open gym at his high school and they also had him over for an unofficial visit last month.

As DSE was climbing the stairs, following his shower, after Washingtons bowing out of the State Tournament.
An Indiana St. assistant, who had been sitting with Washingtons Coach Brown, stopped him and gave him his card,
As DSE progressed by me, l started chanting BU-BU-BU.
DSE turned smiled and gave me a thumbs up!
Hopefully that is a positive. I believe he would contribute as a BRAVE!

G....I have heard he has interest in the Braves...I do not know if the Braves have offered a ride yet or not?

G....he already has a D1 body...the kid is built for sure....and I think JL could give some help to his 3 pt shot as well!

Agreed. I have liked him ever since I saw him at the Pekin tournament last year. He was definitely one of the top 5 D-1 ready players there.

Come on Grassman...what kind of shower has stairs to climb out of it and WHAT in the lords name were YOU doing in the locker room.

:)

He is local, he apparently has a D1 body but does he fill a need?

We have one sophomore and 2 freshman guards at or near 6 ft tall, will we need an 4th?

Even if we have interest, would he be willing to compete for atleast 2 years for playing time.

With the style of play JL is committed to I think it wouldn't be a problem.....MY concern is his shooting ability or apparent lack of it. I trust JL though IF he thinks the kid will help....go get him.

Doggie. Shooting ability? I believe he averaged over 18 a game in his Jr. season. They where not all layups.

Your avoiding the REAL question......:)

I just HEARD he wasn't a real good shooter. txbrave was worried about PT for another player we seem to have a glut on. My response was that JL's system allows for more than the usual amount of similar players especially at the guard spot.

With that said you have to be able to shoot.....and as you well know being a scorer and good shooter don't always go hand in hand.

I'm not questioning his ability to score just wondering if he's a not a real good shooter like I have heard.

DSE is not a Matt Roth type shooter from long range, but he's not afraid to take 3 pt shots either. Right now, his game is more suited to taking the ball to the basket...and he's very, very good at that! :)
