The thread probably has run its course...threads seem to do that....most folks are not Roth Bashers...but more dislike the manner in which IU coach recruits....Matt is a great player and I am sure we all root for the local kid to do well....I think the original question was answered in the 1st few posts.....yes Edwards has talent and if the fit is right BU would probably be interested....I did hear a report from the game last night, and while Edwards had the points...the report was not all positive.....its early in the season...

Sorry-- they wouldn't have trouble with anyone in their conference, except maybe Morton, but they didn't have much trouble with Dunlap.

I don't know much about Coach Ruffin but I do know the kid is getting some sound coaching from C Brown.Every time DSE did something wrong, Coach Brown was in his ear and dad was nodding approval. Brown is the one guy who coaches the same whether up 30, down 30, game just starting, or garbage time.In the middle of the 4th last night, I'm sure he was scheduling practice for today. DSE will be a better player for it.

For the time being, Matt Roth has put to rest any rumors of his demise.... 
He was 12-19, and 8-11 from 3-pt for 34 points.

I was at the game last night...here are a few of my thoughts.
1. Roth is rediculous. I really wish BU would have landed him. He missed his first two three's and then didn't seem to miss from then on out. He hit a few from at least 4-5 feet beyond the arc. Other than his three point shooting ability, he can drive in and pull up from about 8 ft away, thats another one of his weapons. 8-11 3pt. 34pts.
2. Dyricus looked pretty good, this was the first time I'd seen him play. He didn't really stand out though, he had a steal and went down and dunked it (barely). I don't know how many points he had, probably only 10 or so, but he was at most the 3rd leading scorer of the night because...
3. Ben Worner, a junior, didn't miss. I don't know if I caught him on a good night or what, but I didn't see him miss all night. He caught my eye during warmups, when I watched him drain about 10 straight threes, then come in and hit 5 threes of his own for 23 points.
They played Normal Community (my former high school), who is usually pretty good, though appearantly not this year, as WCHS spanked'em.

Very good athlete. He fits in a lot better to Washington's system than I ever imagined. He gives them a different look because he's speedy and quick and is adjusting to the point guard role.
Personally, I do not feel he is BU caliber though he may be able to play at the Division I level in some time. He needs a good coach to help him understand the game better but I definitely feel he has the ability to play at the lower D1 level.

Wow, if Simms-Edwards can't play on the BU team that scored a mere 9 points in one half then how can he play in the MI?! Ok, all jokes aside this kid can and does do it all. He has a 40 inch vertical. He has the range to shoot the 3 consistently. He has the ability to take just about anyone off the dribble and shoot off balance shot. He plays great on ball D. He makes SWEET passes, and sure this is against high school teams I don't see why he couldn't do so at the next level... Just one biased opinion I guess.
From what I undrstand in talking to a D-1 coach he will be a good mid-major player

Ya, because the last thing BU need this year is a scorer... and defense... and size... and a healthy PG. Beggers can't be choosers.
Mosh, we know you really like Edwards, and he looks like a great prospect to me. But nobody can predict that since he scores 18 to 20 ppg at Washington, that he will be a scorer at the Division 1 level. Let's see how he does when Matt Roth is gone.
Remember, JJ Tauai lead the state of Missouri with a 30+ ppg average, and was never a scorer at Bradley. And Tyrone Cole-Scott scored 18 ppg at juco last year, but can't score at D1 yet. I think he will, but you can't assume that these kids will automatically adjust to the next level.

Yes, I like Dyricus... and Bradley obviously likes reruiting mediocre players and fielding mediocre teams. I guess I was wrong when I expected the local college team and the local college fans to be drooling just waiting for him to come there...

Yes, you are right...BU is mediocre...they are attracted to mediocre players...blah blah blah...yes, you've droned on about this in every post you've made. So what is your point? We discuss BU basketball here...Matt Roth isn't coming here...If Simms-Edwards is any good, I'm sure Les will be interested. End of story. Now go away.
Wow. I just wish we could start Washington's squad. I'm sure they'd eat D-1 for lunch.
I love the point that somebody brought up about Roth's shooting %. Sure, he may make alot of 3 pointers, but he puts them up like they're going out of style. In college, playing against people who actually know how to guard and put a hand in the face of a shooter on a consistent basis, I don't see how that percentage can do anything but go down. In college he will be an average 3 point shooter, not the next JJ Reddick.
As far as Edwards is concerned...transferring HS based solely on athletics is plain silly in my mind.
To Moshington: Unless you've experience D1 ball first hand I suggest you don't compare how BU runs their program to a high school team. We're all aware that Matt Roth will average 35 pts a game at IU, we're all aware that orange is by far the best color in the Crayola box. You've done your job, now please leave.

Mosh, I'm with you. Simms- Edwards absolutely should be, and is, being looked at by Bradley.
As I posted earlier, Eric Buescher and Rob Judson were watching him at the Pekin tournament.
JJ played in the smallest level schools in Missouri. Simms Edwards plays in Illinois 2nd largest division.
I think he's a ton! He even plays hard on "D"I would love to see him @ Bradley.
Of course after seeing this years top "25 recruiting class" in action who really knows?.
