Eddren M. not good!!!

Bradley's is not a sinking ship, though considering some of the ridiculous rumors some people have been trying to promote the last 24 hours its apparent the BU haters and JL haters are getting desperate.
This is a case of one player with serious behavior issues. Coach Les acted correctly and decisively. Its unfortunate, and I wish the best for EM. He obviously was hanging with the wrong crowd. Unless someone has evidence that any other player was involved, please refrain from making suggestion that there are.

no different that recent arrests at ISU, SIU, and even UNI ....this is a case where a young man needs to get his life straightened out and take advantage of a new chance somewhere else...

I agreed with all that you said except the serious behavior issues. EM on all accounts has been a good student who made a very unfortunate mistake. Serious issues are for those that do bodily harm to others like rape, shoot or mug.

Sad that a drug less harmful than alcohol gets so many in trouble. Fishy that this happens a day or two after he leaves. I wonder if he was targeted because of his decision to leave.

One more comment- It's ironic that Tennessee just upset Ohio State to advance to the Elite 8.
The irony is that 3 of the key players helping Tennessee to win the game were Brian Williams (9 points, 12 rebounds), Cameron Tatum (11 points), and Melvin Goins (4 points, 4 assists, and good defense on Evan Turner).

Those 3 players were involved in an incident less than 3 months ago where they were arrested during a traffic stop when they were found to have drugs and illegal weapons in their possession.

But unlike Coach Les, Coach Bruce Pearl suspended the players for a couple games, then reinstated them and went on with the season as if nothing had happened. Those arrested/reinstated players have now helped lead Tennessee to the Elite 8. Congratulations to Bruce Pearl and tennessee for their accomplishments.
But also, congratulations to Coach Les for taking a stronger stand in favor of discipline in a case that involved less serious charges than the Tennessee incident.

I agree and I doubt if he was targeted. It's Peoria after all. California plans to put a measure on the ballots to legalize it and if passed what a win fall of taxes and not throwing people in the slammer for a non-violence act.

I hope you are joking. He was arrested at 4:25 am Tuesday morning. He was dismissed from Bradley sometime late Wednesday or early Thursday morning, acccording to the Coach. I think you have the sequence of events backward. I would guess his dismissal may have had something to do with the events of Monday night/Tuesday morning.

No, I'm not. Its Marijuana. A drug with less negative effects on the body and less dependence than alcohol. And quite often do I stay up until 4-5am on a weekend. They werent harming anyone.

re: SFP - California will save hundreds of millions of dollars just in reduced prison costs alone.

I think DaCoach was responding to your comment about the police potentially targeting Eddren since he decided to leave. That's not what happened since the arrest happened first and then Eddren's leaving was announced.

Oooooh, I didnt even catch the timeline!

gotta agree with you there G. It's much more irresponsible to get in a car after a bunch of beers than to get caught with a little green. In fact, outside the midwest, depending on the amount the punishment is basically the equivalent to a traffic violation. See Tim Lincecum case.

I'm not saying it wasn't stupid or that he shouldn't be kicked off the team (ahem), I mean transferring, but there are worse things than possessing a relatively harmless substance.

Oh Eddren, WHAT were you thinking?!

Well, I hope for his sake he gets the help he needs to shake this habit. Marijuana is not as "harmless" a drug as many think, but I believe EM is young enough and smart enough to get his life turned around. Maybe this will be the wake-up call he needed to get things straightened out.

And like I said yesterday, I still wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors.

Wow, not good. At all. Really makes me wonder what kind of grasp Les has on his players after this and some of the other things I see on a common basis in Peoria.

They're big boys. They should know not to do things like this.

What I like about Les in situations like this is that he sends a stern message each time something like this happens. Maybe some feel that Les should implement harsh curfews or babysit his players 24 hours a day, but I don't buy that. Besides, tell me what John Calipari or Bob Huggins would have done if EM was on their teams (and very fitting they are playing each other tomorrow night!).

Oh, I can give that answer right now.......NOTHING!

Glad I didn't post earlier, like I was going to, and tell EM how much we would miss him and wish him good luck. All I can say is goodbye and good riddance. Coach Les is a good man and doesn't deserve the critisism he is getting because you didn't know when you had it made.

I think it seems like a program changing some things that haven't worked the last couple years to make next year everything it can be. I see a great next couple years, and think we are just setting the tone for those great years. As far as EB leaving, EM leaving, and attendance waning those are happening at every school, and the EB thing was for nothing bad or negative to my knowledge.

So I guess you can take change as one of two ways: An opportunity for great things to happen, or a bad sign of things to come. I prefer to look at it the first way.

I agree Chico Les is a good man......I haven't heard anyone being critical of him though.

Maybe no one has come out and said so on this board yet, but you know as well as I do the Les dislikers, better than using the word haters, are eating this up.

Two coaches either dismissed or leaving the program...one in the middle of the season, a player leaving or more likley dismised for drugs, one player suspended THREE times in the same year, attendance waning, lackluster crowds, multiple home losses after leading all those games, canceling of the traditional end of year banquet banquet, another year of NO NCAA tournament, another year of 5th place MVC, another year of NO Valley final appearance.......THAT is a ship taking on water. Life jacket please......

we're a program stuck in neutral

Yeah, but these things will take care of themselves if Bradley finishes at or near the top of the Valley next year, which most fans will expect them to do.

A sinking ship would be more like an average team losing five seniors, and three new recruits transferring to another school. I don't think we are that far in the hole, and a good year next year will help big time.

Plus we don't even know why the year end banquet was cancelled, so I won't even include that on this list.
