ESPN Summer Shoot Around report

The Valley gets some love from Andy Katz and company at ESPN in this Summer Shoot Around report on the mid-majors. Unfortunately Bradley does not get mentioned, but they determined that the Valley would be fun to watch again this year, though not as deep as it was during the mid 2000's. WSU, UNI and Creighton are the teams to watch this year, at least according to ESPN.

Also good to see some mention of Detroit and Loyola-Marymount, two teams on our home schedule this year. It may be a better home schedule than I thought it would be, especially if Loyola-Marymount can play to its potential.

They say that Lucas O'Rear is coming back - that's not right, is it?
If so, I like UNI's chances of contending...unfortunately.

I think O'rear is coming back... the Reds (I think is the team that drafted him) said he could play some summer baseball, and go back to UNI for his senior season and play basketball. Please correct me if I am wrong...

yes -- he is definitely playing his senior year at UNI
..his career stats...3.8 ppg, 4.0 rpg..his best year (sophomore season)5.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg

he also has these career stats in baseball...
10 appearances, 3 games started, W-L 0-0, 1 Save, 17.3 IP, 15K, 5.20 ERA

We all know that his stats do not match what he brings to the court. There are a few players that add a certain positive dimension that the stat sheet does not adequately represent. We've had a few of those players on our team.

I can think of 2 freshmen from last season's BU squad whose stats didn't represent their positive dimension. They will be a big part of our team this coming season, called upon to do those little things such as add intensity, solid D, and rebounding.
