I love this tidbit from the first link:

WINNER: Seth Greenberg (10). On Saturday night, the Virginia Tech coach might have moved out of his longtime dwelling on the thinnest part of the bubble with an upset of No. 1 Duke. If the Hokies take care of business at home Tuesday against Boston College, they should have enough in the bank to secure their first NCAA bid since 2007. For Greenberg, it would be his third bid in the past 16 years and should theoretically force a different NIT-bound coach to be the go-to Face of Rejection for the media after the bracket is revealed. (Then again, if Seth is truly addicted to drama, Tech will drop the game against BC and then lose on the road at Clemson, backsliding into bubble anxiety for the ACC tourney.)


And of course this is exactly what is happening. VT is down 53-41 to Boston College with 11:52 left!

So unless Seth's team has a rally in them, look for him to be the lead story AGAIN on Selection Sunday.
 
You lose to Virginia twice, BC twice and to Georgia Tech by 15 I dont care if you beat Duke, you have zero business getting an atlarge bid.

Missouri St is definitely cursed from a RPI stand point. seems like they use RPI when it helps major conferences and use it against mid-majors when they have a bad RPI. Bama is in the discussion for an at large bid despite all their horrendous non-conference losses.

the espn bubble projection mentions Missouri St's bad loss to Valpo but then Illinois doesn't get the loss to UIC held against them. Double Standard!

You are absolutely correct. And Seth will complain, though I think he is starting to get the message as he stated the other day on ESPN. You have to win games to earn at-large bids. So I don't think he thought solely beating Duke would be enough. Now they got to get serious and win their final conference game at a pretty decent Clemson team on Saturday. They do have an outside shot at finishing tied for third, but should earn at least a fourth place finish with a win. As bad as they have looked they still should be in if the can beat Clemson. Lose and they have no one to blame but themselves.

They could still finished tied for third or solely in fourth in the ACC. The BCS bias would not leave a team out that finishes that high. Fifth or lower might not get the job done though as the ACC is down a bit this year.

Agreed though that MSU for sure should also be in the discussion. I'm not sure they aren't either. As the regular season Valley champions, they will get serious consideration if they win at least one game in St. Louis.

WSU has too many home loses and has faded in recent weeks. They don't deserve to be on the bubble considering they have no real quality non-conference wins and could beat MSU once.

Great points, though Eamon Brennan of ESPN mentions the UIC game quite a bit in his Weekly Watch column. So many will take notice of it.

However, in a perfect world, if it came down to the last spot, I would take Missouri St. over Illinois in a heart beat, just based on the fact that MSU won their conference. I would probably have Illinois in over WSU, but not by much. And it would be close enough to debate for a while.
